Went to the door an hour ago - two amiable gentlemen there. I did not notice uniform nor lanyards tbh (I had just woken up in my defence).
Asked how could I help them, expecting some business patter/energy prices or some such. They were looking for Person X.
I said I was Person Y and did not know of X.
They said they were from (County) Police and had been given my address to help X then her surname. Told them did not know them and confirmed when I had moved here. Had my ID staff lanyard on at the time. They apologised for disturbing me. End of conversation.
I live in a crappy terrace, nothing to see here or burgle. So I do think they were who they said they were but I never actually asked for confirmation. I am right in thinking name and address are commonplace/matter of public record anyway.
Should I have done more/less/ or am I overthinking it cos I am one of the mumsnetters, who rarely opens her door?!
