Things to do near the NEC

Am taking DS to a daytime convention at the NEC in Birmingham in a couple of weeks. Not my cup of tea so I will need to kill a few hours. Any suggestions? I’m off to bed now so not ignoring responses but forgot to post earlier.

Bear Grylls is on the same site: www.beargryllsadventure.com/

If shopping and eating is more what you like you could try Resorts World www.resortsworldbirmingham.co.uk/ (you can walk there from the NEC too).

I'd probably hop on the train into the city centre where there's more to do, it's only 15 mins away.

I used to work at the NEC. If I were you I’d get the train into the city centre. It only takes 10 minutes.

If it is a few hours, then, like hellcat suggests, I would hop on the train into Birmingham City Centre where there is plenty to do.

Thank you for the suggestions, they’re really helpful. I am not really a shopper and not sure how long he will be so leaning towards cinema or spa but wondering if I can persuade other DS to come so I can go axe throwing…. Sounds amazing!
