Lamb with pneumonia - any farmers about?

We have a 4 day old lamb with suspected pneumonia. Sneezing, discharge and bloody nose. Have given penicillin and she's inside in a washing basket with towels. Trying not to let her get too warm either. She's breathing quickly and sounds choked up.

Determined this one is not going to die, it's dd's pet lamb and we've had an awful lambing so far.

Any tips to keep her alive please?

I have metacam for the dog.... would that be worth a shot?

I could 😢 she was doing so well.

Metacam is worth as a shot as it’s an anti inflammatory but it will also need antibiotics.
Pet lambs unfortunately are a nightmare 🥲

Antibiotics, did it have any colostrum when born?

bettertocryinamercedes · 06/04/2022 18:56

Yes we gave 2ml antibiotics at 4pm (penicillin)

How much metacam would I give? It's 1.5mg / ml strength for dogs.

She had colostrum from mum and a packet for the first day and then lamlac but today was a bit bunged up so we gave her a little warm water and she managed to poop a couple times.

She has definitely perked up and wanted her bottle at 6.30 so that's good. Now curled up in the kitchen.

Have you contacted a vet?

bettertocryinamercedes · 06/04/2022 19:10

I haven't yet as I've just done what the vet does on day 1 if they come out.

If no improvement overnight I'll take her in.

Pic for cuteness.

And she just pooped on my carpet 😆
