And I can't believe the absolute shite on there. It was bad when I left but it's shocking now.

I fell down a worm hole of short clips, ordinary people with no discernable talent talking to the camera as if they're famous 'Hi guys, this is my no make up make up look', clips of toddlers doing what every other toddler on the planet is doing, top 'life hacks' that I've somehow managed to survive without, people cleaning, people restocking their fridges, people painting old shit, people filming other people without their permission minding their own business, people parking badly, people trying on clothes, people jumping out at people. I mean what's the world come to?!! Its utter madness! Never logging on again (although I thoroughly enjoyed the clips of dogs just bring dogs).

And now I've made a pointless thread about how pointless is all is! Sorry!

If I were you I'd steer clear of TikTok Grin

AbsentmindedWoman · 05/04/2022 15:50

Do none of your friends just post pleasant, mildly interesting little bits and pieces?

Or articles they have read and thought good?

Or amusing memes/ cartoons/ penguin videos? Grin

Habitatty282 · 05/04/2022 15:53

AbsentmindedWoman I haven't got any friends! (On Facebook at least!) I started a new account to access a support group so the only thing on there was all the weird clips.

That might be the problem: social media is what you make it, and it feeds you what it thinks you’ll like based on what you look at…

Yes, you aren't using it correctly. It is for keeping up with old friends and family.

If you must keep using it, access it on a PC, and use a program called FB Purity; this allows you more control over what you see, and gets rid of ads.

marqueses · 05/04/2022 16:21

How do you see those, I never see any videos on Facebook. Is it because you don't have any friends so no posts to show you?

Bluetowelsandflannels · 05/04/2022 16:22

Well of course it will be crap if you only have random stuff coming up, although that said it is mostly crap. You need some of your own interests and friends on there to make it more 'yours'.

Bluetowelsandflannels · 05/04/2022 16:23

SuperstarB

Ooh sounds interesting, how do you go about getting it delivered that way?

Habitatty282 · 05/04/2022 17:00

Oh dear, I obviously know that to make it more interesting to me I need to add my own friends and find interest groups. I was just surprised at the crap people film these days!

But every time your think that way, an influencer somewhere dies (inside) like J M Barrie's fairies.

Same here. I never get any of that stuff.
EmmaH2022 · 05/04/2022 17:40

OP not a waste
You really made me laugh, especially the toddler comment 😂
I'm not on Facebook but occasionally friend send videos saying "this is amazing" and it's their toddler playing with a plastic toy!
