The one who is here wants to go home because he is bored

They play computer games or kick a football around! Try feeding them some junk food, usually keeps them happy!

Br1ll1ant · 05/04/2022 15:33

Nerf wars, den building, movie watching, switch games together, gravitrax, boomtrix?

CavernousScream · 05/04/2022 15:33

Video games. Food. Bit of Lego or magnetic stuff. Watch TV. More video games and food. I’m going to bet you’re not allowing them to spend as much time as he wants on a games console?

MarthanotMarfa · 05/04/2022 15:34

PlayStation together. Trampoline. Bike to the park with dh. Burgers. Film on Netflix etc. Go bowling. Cinema with me sat at the back. In summer sea swim/beach.

They love getting a fiver each and going to shop to buy their own lunch, and then sitting in park eating it and having a kick around afterwards

Gives them real feel of independence

MarthanotMarfa · 05/04/2022 15:36

Yes sorry I forgot nerf wars, den or tent building, make video with go pro, not worrying about screen time or be too controlling but intersperse activity and freedom.

Responsiveroo · 05/04/2022 15:36

Plus gets them out under my feet

TheSonjaMorgan · 05/04/2022 15:38

Yes agree with the going to the park with some money on their own. I have noticed that some little boys nowadays are used to being constantly stimulated so can't entertain themselves. Doesn't happen in this home, kick em out and let em fend for themselves has always worked for my boys. They are happy and healthy and independent because of it.

Stompythedinosaur · 05/04/2022 16:07

I've got a dd that age, but looking at her male peers I'd say that gaming is the main activity.

GoodnightJude1 · 05/04/2022 16:09

Football….playing it, watching it, looking at football cards, football kits, football players….

Oh and going to the shop to buy more football cards.

No restriction on console activity I just thought child in question was being a bit spioikt tbh

PlayStation, football, trampoline, football or tennis at the park, making dens, pillow fights, obstacle courses in the house or garden, watching films.

Bugbeau · 05/04/2022 16:52

10 yo boy here but mainly Xbox interspersed with Pokémon cards, nerf fights, trampoline, remote control cars, kick abouts. Easier to do most of these when the weather is nice. Agree with the previous posters that the park is a great option if not raining, there they will play football, basket ball, climb trees, go on play equipment etc.

Looseleaf · 05/04/2022 17:44

It may well be the child rather than not enough to do! DS and his friend just chat for hours and so easy together. They also enjoy his laser guns and Nintendo switch and cooking things on a camp fire . And going for a cycle with a pack of sweets!

Redwinestillfine · 05/04/2022 17:47

Play out? Aren't they a bit old for play dates at 11?

MangshorJhol · 05/04/2022 17:51

We have no games/consoles but I've had a 10 year old over every single day since Thursday. They play outside, come in, eat, go outside, play some board games/make marble runs and then they are back outside again. By the time the playdate is over they are pretty sweaty and filthy.

Hedonism · 05/04/2022 18:02

Well that's just rude.

When my DS has friends over they play on the games console, watch a movie, trampoline, football, darts, or just go round to the park / play out together. They are usually up for a trip to a bigger park if I offer to take them.
