Why have I still got earache?

I saw the nurse at GP practice who said dried wax, use olive oil. I did for a few weeks but it seemed to make things worse until eventually I was in really quite a lot of pain. Contacted surgery again to be told I needed to arrange for it to be cleared privately. Which I did.

(Lovely young woman, used micro suction initially, then irrigation and charged me £65 when I was only there 10 mins, I'm in the wrong job!).

The irrigation really hurt at the time, but she tells me wax is all clear now and there's no sign of infection. I can hear better and the pain is improved, but it does still hurt, 3 weeks later.

I can't get an appointment with GP - they send me for an ear exam with the nurse, who confirms wax is gone and no infection. But it still hurts and I get that stood up too quickly dizzy feeling, which may or may not be connected.

You need to insist on seeing the GP. Pain and dizziness is not normal, and this has not gone away despite treating it.
Put your foot down.

Personally I think these private practitioners who offer ear-related services are suspect.

The training is at most 6 hours and anyone can train for it.

The pain and dizziness you describe isn't normal after treatment.

You need to go back to the GP and ask for a referral to an Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist

See an actual doctor. Nurses are just a cheap barrier

Dizziness suggests inner ear infection which can't really be seen from outside because it's behind the eardrum (labyrinthitis?)
Pain could be infection or it could be trauma from all the poking about in there.
Also I know you were doing as told by the nurse, but carrying on a treatment that is making things worse - not a good idea. Insist on seeing a doctor.
