I want to apply for an internal job at work. It's not a promotion but a side step to a new role which I'm quite interested in.
They've asked me to upload a CV and a covering letter. I've worked at the company for a long time so I'm very rusty 🙈
What on earth do I include?
How long do I keep it?
Ahh where so I start!!!!

Start off with why you’re applying and what attracts you to the role; explain the skills you’ve developed through your current role and how well they’ll transfer to the new one; set out how your extensive knowledge and experience of the company, it’s culture and processes make you the ideal candidate; identify a particular challenge / change / growth opportunity you think the new role can offer for your career development. Using the key objectives of the role, give STAR examples of projects you’ve worked on where you’ve achieved goals, met an objective or improved a process.

Two sides of A4 maximum is ideal length. You’re trying to make it obvious to the reader why you and the role and the team are a good match. Good luck!
