Glucosamine side effects mitigation? Tmi

Apparently I have a touch of osteoarthritis.
The physio recommended taking supplements of glucosamine/chondroitin/collagen.
I've found a supplement that contains all 3, and the dosage is 3 tablets a day.
Well.
That resulted in great discomfort, I felt simultaneously loose bowelled and constipated, so I've started taking half a tablet a day instead.
It's not been long enough to say whether that's helping.

Is there a way to mitigate against the side effects, should I gradually increase the dosage, or is it simply one will cause discomfort or the other will?

I would think starting small and increasing slowly may well be fine. I take magnesium and had to take a low dose to start with but now tolerate well.

On the other hand

I used to take glucosamine and it didn't have any positive effect at all.

I did some research and now take MSM and Curcumin (the active part of turmeric). Neither of these give me any bowel problems

These are what I use

Thanks, NannyGythaOgg (great name!). I shall persevere with low doses.
