Volunteering - how long is reasonable to wait for a reply?

To your application?

I applied to two local charities and the library over a week ago for advertised volunteering roles and no acknowledgement at all. One was applied for through Indeed, another through their own website application process and the third was emailed.

I was just wondering how long to wait before moving on. It’s just that I identified these three roles in particular as something I was really interested in so I’d be disappointed to never hear back.

I also applied at my local library and they never responded. I would think they are a popular choice and are probably inundated with queries.

For the email one I would have thought you should have heard back by now, even just to say thanks but they don’t need anyone at the moment. Did the Indeed one have a deadline?

There was a Guardian article from a few years ago which says how charities can be slack at replying to potential volunteers.
