Should the boat race be undergrads only?!

I’m not particularly invested but after today’s boat race I’m wondering what the point is now? Both universities just seem to import some single year post grads from wherever (for many(/all!) of whom I’m assuming ‘doing a course’ is very much second fiddle to their rowing careers). There were a max of 3 undergrads (if that) amongst both crews as far as I can work out - it’s not exactly a particularly interesting competition anymore is it, it’s just who can provide the most interesting opportunity to a few Brit & international rowers who want to fill training time whilst waiting for the next olympics/major international competition… is there a race for undergrads only? Think that would be way more fun & interesting!

Yes totally agree. It's become a professional's race and lost its way.

And I’ve just started watching the women’s race on catch up and it’s the same thing!

When double Olympic gold medalist James Cracknell took part it rather signalled that it was no longer a university competition
