Trying to avoid my husband who is always in a massive grump on Sunday evening. Every Sunday.

I'm watching a film. Had a couple of glasses of wine. Feel physically tired but mentally wanting to get started on the new week and get on with stuff!

Sunday... the reality of work, school and not being able to get to sleep at night!

Luredbyapomegranate · 03/04/2022 21:52

Working and now drinking too much wine.

But that’s because have been working all weekend so fairly wired, not because dreading tomorrow.

Scrubbing toilets at the local hospital until 8pm, two scotch and cokes once home,, order online food shopping and then bed !

Watched the news. Did some knitting - new project! Translated some Russian to English. Chatted to my Mum on the phone. Now drinking ginger tea and about to go to sleep. I don't think about work outside my hours of I can help it!

I found a magnificent solution to this 5 years ago... I compressed my hours into 5 over 4 and NEVER work Mondays ... 2 hours extra when I'm already there is so much more enjoyable than dreading Sunday nights BUT ...

I work for a large govt department so the staffing can cope.

My kids are adults so no long childcare costs

So appreciate it may not be/available for all .

Mostly I am getting riled at the thought of having to gladhand at an event for a flagship project I am one of the leaders on. I earn fuck all and hate my employer but it's an important initiative in societal terms so I will do it. I have spent the evening preparing key phrases and going over key achievements but it is a fucking joke and I'd rather be spending my time applying for jobs that pay me enough to live on.
@skippy67 me as well, if anyone is thinking of reducing from a 5 to 4 day week, consider Mondays off, not Fridays.
This. It saved my career as a teacher.
