Can anyone recommend a sim only deal

I'm annoyed. Years ago I got a correct phone with 02 for 24 months. That expired but they carried on charging me at though I was paying for the handset. I called and know I had the deal reduced to £18/month. Since then they've told me I'm back on £28.81. All I use my phone for is a couple of calls, few weekly texts, and browsing, some app usage.

Can anyone recommend a good cheap sim company. I've logged on one of the comparison sites, or says £2.99/month for lebara. Even o2' s own sim with a better deal than the one in on (10x more data) is £8/month. I know the O2 coverage is good (I'm in a suburban area, east midlands) but little experience with any others.

TIA

Ours are with EE

Check out Lebara, Giffgaff , Tesco etc.
Being a Virgin Media customer I have a Virgin Mobile deal for 5gb data with unlimited texts and minutes for £6. I think Virgin use the O2 network.

I use Giff Gaff.
I use a lot of data so pay 10 a month on a recurring goody bag and for that I get unlimited minutes and texts and 15gb a month.
There are cheaper ones and more expensive ones but this one works for me.
When I was living somewhere temporarily I upped the goody bag cos it was cheaper than WiFi at the time and meant I could hot-spot to my laptop to watch stuff.

My kids are on giff gaff, £8 / month

ModerationInEverything · 03/04/2022 19:08

I'm with smarty. £10 a month rolling contact, unlimited minutes and texts plus 30gb data. Very good coverage.

MadameGazelle · 03/04/2022 19:08

ID mobile £11 month for 20GB data, unlimited calls, unlimited texts.

TreacheryPepper · 03/04/2022 19:08

I'd recommend GiffGaff - you definitely get your money's worth. The only drawback is that all support is online - there simply are no call centres. With a sim only deal I don't see this being an issue though.

Also, you're not tied into a contract, so if you give them a try and decide it isn't for you, you aren't forced to stay. They piggyback on the O2 network so signal isn't an issue

Cedarfire · 03/04/2022 19:09

Me and my kids are on ID mobile, never had any trouble with the service and we live very rurally. I pay £6 for each I think, rolling one month contract so I can cancel whenever I want. Perfect and cheap as chips.

RozHuntleysLeftHand · 03/04/2022 19:10

Oh and unless I'm in the depth of the country side I never drop out.
I think they use 02 as well.
Theres a 5pound plan I think.

JamieNorthlife · 03/04/2022 19:11

They have been overcharging you by more than £20.

The companies suggested above have great deals, you can also try Sky mobile, just ask for the sim deal only.

Cedarfire · 03/04/2022 19:13

This looks like a good deal from ID mobile, 10G of data and unlimited calls/texts for £7pm

Can anyone recommend a sim only deal

1p mobile. I bought a card in between my old contract and moving here, and you buy I think it is £20 but you have a year to use it, and it literally is 1p per minute...it is a better signal than I ever got as well.

ancientgran · 03/04/2022 19:18

I'm on giffgaff £6 a month goodybag. Every month they send me a text telling me it is going to renew and if I am on the right goodybag, I always am. Unlimited calls and texts an 1GB. It is plenty for me but obviously you would have to assess.

Iloveyourbracelet · 03/04/2022 19:21

I just renewed my o2 contract but went through uswitch. £6 per month, 5 gb of data and unlimited texts and calls. If you are currently on o2, go on my o2, you can see how much data you use so you know how much you need to get.

The same sim only deal direct through o2 was about £15 a month.

roseinthegarden · 03/04/2022 20:25

We're on sky, family sharing, very flexible and full data sharing. It's great for us.

IWasFunBeforeMum · 03/04/2022 20:29

Giff gaff all day long. You're not tied in, set a reoccurring 'goody bag' to suit you. Can change it month by month if you feel you need more or less. I have the £10 golden goody bag. It's the best out there. I can't believe some people still pay £30+ a month for phone tariffs.

ArtOfTheImpossible · 03/04/2022 20:59

Thank you. I always use less than 1gb per month.

We're with Talkmobile. A 3GB data SIM only with unlimited calls and texts is £7 per month. They use the Vodafone service which is the only one I can get a signal on at home (rural). Call centre staff are helpful and patient - talked us through setting it up in the first place.

Malbecfan · 03/04/2022 21:17

Just seen Talkmobile do a 30 day contact with 1GB data for £5 per month.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 03/04/2022 21:21

I had giffgaff for years and so did the dc, 19 yesr old still has it and iirc it's about 6 a month for 1gb, you can change it monthly and I think it rolls over if you don't use it all

Outwith · 03/04/2022 21:23

Definitely giffgaff. As someone said unthread, they text you every month, and let you know whether you're on the best deal. They suggested I move from my £8/month deal to a £6/month deal last month!

TheAbbotOfUnreason · 03/04/2022 21:25

Giffgaff goody bag £6/month for 1GB data and unlimited calls / texts. It uses the O2 network.

MossyBottom · 03/04/2022 21:26

Giffgaff not as competitive as it used to be. We all used gg for years but both DC and I have switched to Smarty and ID.

TwoDaysOff · 03/04/2022 21:31

superdrug. tenner a month for 5gb, £15 for 15g, £20 for unlimited everything.

Changechangychange · 03/04/2022 21:39

Three. Unlimited data, calls, texts. £20 per month but there was a 50% off deal for the first 12 months.
