What do you think of this seaside town, few friends considering day out here in August! No children going!

Was there yesterday , what do you want to know ?

waterlego · 03/04/2022 16:26

I live nearby. I rarely visit because I don’t like it very much but it’s always popular with tourists and visitors so obviously popular! What sort of thing do you and your friends like to do/see?
Brighton is always busy (and especially so in August). It is also expensive (get there by public transport if possible- parking is extortionate) and a bit grubby but has some great shops, especially in the North Laines area and some great eateries and bars.

HamsterTrumpet · 03/04/2022 16:26

You really don’t need to plan months in advance for a day out in Brighton Confused

It’s a seaside town. I’d probably avoid it Pride weekend unless that’s the reason for going. Restaurants are OK. Beach is shit. Shopping’s not great unless you like antiques or “bohemian” tat.

MinchieMoo · 03/04/2022 16:43

Went yesterday. It was closed. Outbreak of Itchy Armpit disease apparently so probably best avoided.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 03/04/2022 16:44

north laines is great imo

Camomila · 03/04/2022 16:49

I live there, I wouldn't fancy the beach in August as it is always packed. Go a bit further along the cost to Hove/Lancing/Shoreham if you want to swim.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 03/04/2022 16:51

will you be staying overnight op?

CambsAlways · 03/04/2022 16:54

Lighten up a bit hamster trumpet it’s a simple question

No not wanting to stay overnight ! Just wanted really a rundown of the place! Shops, shows, pier, bars, etc

I live here. Always good for a day out. Avoid Pride weekend unless you're going.

Terre a Terre - very nice restaurant with some great staff

A walk along the beach to Hove

Pavillion

The town centre is a bit grubby

gunnersgold · 03/04/2022 17:28

Will. You be driving or getting the train? Parking is very expensive. We park in London road and walk through the north Laines .. there are loads of vintage shops there and then you keep walking into town and the other lanes .. the pier and beach are all in that direction .
Loads to do and see but you'll need to book a show if you want to see something while you are there .

trains coming back in August after sun is going down are HEAVING.
