Im feeling miserable and just would like some ideas please its my 30th birthday on Tuesday and I've currently broken both my leg so can't get around easily at all!
I have 2 young kids and the husband is being very very helpful but im just so down and fed up of this right now, were trying to think of things to do to celebrate the day but im really struggling to think of anything ? Im fed up of being on bed rest and stuck in the house. We do have a wheelchair but even that im struggling to sit in as it doesn't hold my legs up i need some ideas what would you do. Long lazy baths arnt even options right now !

How dreadful for you, hope recovery doesn’t take too long.
My favourite film, some favourite perfume, a huge box of expensive chocolates and a bottle of vintage champagne !
I’d also like to play fun board games with my family and if I’ve got room, after the chocolates and champagne, a lovely take away.

What did you do? (Very nosey, feel free to ignore but we all want to know)

Honestly I'd do a iou and plan something lovely later this year. On the day can you have a restaurant delivery/collection if you explain the circumstances?

caulkheaded · 03/04/2022 13:44

Lots of stuff online with friends. DH wrote taskmaster game for me when I had a birthday post-surgery where all my friends did the tasks and I laughed a lot. We could have people from all over the country (plus America!!) too.

I’d also plan a meal I really enjoyed and invite people round for it - either take away or asking friends to help cook bits of it.

If it’s warm then lots of sitting outside and enjoying drinks. Can you be in the car- maybe a day trip to the safari park or somewhere you sit in the car and watch?

A manicure if a manicurist can come to you?
Facial ?
Favourite meal, chocolates and a movie.
Happy Birthday for Tuesday 💐 You’ll laugh about this one day.

I had to postpone a big birthday due to Covid, on the day i had a nice walk with DH and DS, then DH cooked lunch and I had a massive zoom with my friends at night while DH dispensed cocktails. I'd do something simple like that and take a rain check on an actual celebration when you're up and about.

Happy birthday though!

I have two young children but thankfully no broken legs. You poor thing.

I feel a little wrung out most of the time, so if I were in your shoes and able to manage around the house by myself for a bit, I'd want DH to get some of my favourite treats in - and then feck off, with the children, to give me some netflix and sofa time.

Not recovery time. Not feeling guilty because I should be folding laundry or something. Full on, luxurious, do nothing downtime stuffing my little face.

And then a lovely meal or night away with DH down the line when you'll be able to enjoy it. Flowers

Oh OP, there I was imagining falling off a table after drunk dancing just me then but that was only my wrist really hope you get better soon, could you get a visiting therapist, maybe a head massage?

I guess best plan is to expect it to be crap and then anything that isn't will be a bonus. Hope the time passes quickly and you are all healed soon .

What was the toy???

I know I shouldn't laugh at your misfortune but poor dead annabelle Grin

Hatinafield · 03/04/2022 14:28

You poor thing, that sounds awful.
I know you’re fed up of being housebound but it does sound like going out would be hard (and painful) so I’m going for:

Breakfast in bed
New bed linen
Flowers
Hairdresser to visit
Beauty therapist to visit (manicure? Neck and shoulders massage?)
Nice chocolates

Alignmeup · 03/04/2022 14:36

Baby Annabelle voodoo doll?

God OP I’m so sorry. Must be awful.

New bed linen sounds lovely.
Nice delivery of food too!

fruitpastille · 03/04/2022 14:57

How awful, I've only broken a single leg and that was bad enough. I think a visiting manicurist sounds nice. You could have
really posh afternoon tea ordered in from somewhere either with your family or get dh to take the kids out and you have friends around. Cheese and wine and a movie or quiz later on.

Watfo · 03/04/2022 15:03

Thats the thing to start with it was only 1 leg and they told me the right leg was just a sprain so I thought ok I can manage 1 leg broken ive been through this before !!!! Few days later I got a phone to call to say they had a relook by a specialist and they actually saw a fracture on the other foot
Great!!!! Just my flipping luck

Tripping over baby Annabelle?? Grin

Anyway I came to wish you a very happy birthday, hope you manage to still have a wonderful day.

Rainbowshit · 04/04/2022 23:09

Oh you poor thing.

I'd have my pals round to my house and sit in state drinking espresso martinis.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 05/04/2022 19:26

Hope you had a good day

TheSnowyOwl · 05/04/2022 19:29

Ouch! Bloody Annabelle!

I would postpone my birthday and wait until I could properly celebrate. Hopefully you can still have an enjoyable but quiet day on your actual birthday as well. High tea with friends maybe?

AnotherPoster · 05/04/2022 19:35

Is there wider family you could rope in? If it were me, I would like either a day out being pushed in the wheelchair, maybe a NT place or anyway, somewhere scenic, and then a nice family meal cooked by my mother. I feel for you, but I also feel for your husband. It must be hard for him to look after you and the kids (and himself). This is where the wider family comes in.

Lemonlady22 · 05/04/2022 20:05
