What is the closest chocolate to (the old) Dairy Milk?

It's just not the same any more, and hardly surprising considering what has happened to the Cadbury company over the last decade.

Dairy Milk used to be my favourite! I'm in the search for something as close to it as possible. Any ideas?

@Jaggerdagger

Do they still make Yorkie bars?
Oh I’d forgotten about Yorkie bars! I loved them! They were Rowntrees but it seems they are now made by Nestle which doesn’t sound promising.

I used to love these but haven’t had them in years. They disappeared and were replaced by Daim ones I think.

The closest thing to the old Dairy Milk is the new Dairy Milk.

It's not the same, but you won't find another brand that has the same flavour. There are lots of other chocolates that are nice that have been mentioned but if you want a Dairy Milk taste then buy Dairy Milk.

As PP have said, go for a Twirl, that's the closest to the old recipe. Or a large bar.

@FictionalCharacter Nestle bought Rowntree in 1988. They have been the same thing for almost 35 years.

I second the Cadbury’s dark milk. Really like that. I also love the Twirl bites and Easter egg choc.
Agree about Tony’s - I didn’t like it at all, and I found the chunks too big and hard

EatSleepRantRepeat · 09/04/2022 10:56

Tony's doesn't use child slavery in the production of their chocolate bars. I'm never buying Cadburys again.

Just been given one of these for Easter. DH has been given one as well.

Sorry to disappoint, but Irish Cadbury chocolate is horrible too now. I've never been a fan of dairy milk but I used to love a cadburys Caramel but they are just disgusting now.

Enna40 · 06/09/2025 04:01

Cadburys chocolate is awful and they keep coming out with new fillings to disguise their rotten chocolate

mummyof2boys30 · 06/09/2025 05:01

The smaller irish dairy milk bars still taste like the original. Come in golden crisp, mint crisp, carmello, turkish, mini egg.
