Suitable funeral wear

Hi all, I'm struggling with my outfit. I'm happy with my black trousers and long black cardigan and was going to wear a black body suit too. I don't know if it looks too black and also unsure if it's the right top. I don't really have any suitable blouses etc. I'm just thinking that if my cardigan and trousers are black would it be acceptable to wear a plain coloured top? And what colour?
Thanks.

I don't think it really matters unless the family have requested a specific dress code (ie no black!). For my son's funeral I wore a plain long-sleeved black dress with a black wool coat, opaque tights and black patent shoes.

As long as you're dressed appropriately and not disrespectfully, nobody will care. Everyone's thoughts will be on the person you're saying goodbye to and not on the colour of your top.

Sorry for your loss.

Any muted colour of top is acceptable I wouldn't wear all black,

Just dress respectfully OP and I doubt anyone will bat an eyelid. Definitely go for dark colours unless there has been a request not to. A plain top sounds absolutely fine. I would say black, dark blue or even something like a dark brown/maroon.

Wearing all black is a convention that is barely followed anymore. I just wear black trousers, a top or blouse I am comfortable in, and a warm jacket. Once you look neat and tidy that is sufficient.

Thank you everyone.
