have tins changed? or is my tin opener btoken?

have one of those openers that don'tleave sharp edges.
tins seem to have got thinner so that the wheel doesn't grip the rim of the tin.

is it my imagination or do I need a new tin opener?

It's the tins. I had a nightmare trying to open a tin of Tesco own condensed milk over Christmas and had to borrow an opener from a neighbour as mine just wouldn't work, and even theirs wasn't much use even though it was a different design. Used 'normal' (carnation?) condensed milk the other day and my opener worked perfectly. I had to hack my way into the Tesco tin so I think it's got to be the actual tins that are different.

It’s not just you… I’ve started turning the tins upside down and opening them that way. The bottom seem to get a better grip for some reason.

I have another one that cuts off the tin below the top, but that leaves a very sharp edge and that's unsuitable for refried beans pastes

I'm buying a stab it version soon because mine only works on 50% of the tins I need to open

I got sick of them breaking or not working. Had this now 8 years and hasn't let me down yet

so far my opener has been good, just the last year or so something has changed.
