How mad is your electricity kwh?

Gufo · 01/04/2022 19:55

36.7p kwh

And the gas is 11p

Anyone want to join me in a pity party (in a dark cold room with no music)

Just under 20p per kWh still, no mains gas.

SummersBreeze · 01/04/2022 19:58

I need to double check the cost. This period last year there was 800+ units of KW used. Energy consumption has definitely been reduced because it's down to 514KW usage for two months. The bill is still scandalous.

dementedpixie · 01/04/2022 20:00

From 2nd April mine are

Electricity 27.8355p/kwh and 49.3815p standing charge
Gas 7.329p/kwh and 27.216p standing charge

This is my standard variable rate with Octopus

OP sounds like you have chosen a fixed rate

Tulip1985 · 01/04/2022 20:03

My gas is 4.47 and electricity 22.3

LaMariposa · 01/04/2022 20:05

Electric - 28.141 a unit, with 24.11p a day fixed change.
Gas - 7.34 a unit, with 26.11p a day fixed charge.

Just below the current price cap, but we are fixed at this until Feb 24. So no further rise in October at least.

Gufo · 01/04/2022 20:05

Yes fixed rate. The standing charge is about 25p a day for each, it's just the kwh price that is less fun.

KittenKong · 01/04/2022 20:07

Dunno but it (electricity and gas? went up from £90 a month the £110 (end of last year) and now it’s just shy of £300 a month. 😢

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 01/04/2022 20:08

35p KWh - day rate economy 7.

SmellyOldOwls · 01/04/2022 20:09

Just checked our bill. It says 18.16p per Kwt ex VAT

dementedpixie · 01/04/2022 20:09

I chose not to fix as it was too expensive

cakeorwine · 01/04/2022 20:12

That's a lot. But I guess the price cap rate will be much more than what you pay when October comes.

Ecosralayce · 01/04/2022 21:20

have you just opted to go onto that fix? It is high, and significantly higher than you would be paying on a standard variable tariff from today, but- and this is the crazy thing - it actually might not be a totally bad deal depending what happens with the October price cap. How long is your fix for, and what are your exit fees?

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 01/04/2022 21:26

Just sat and looked at mine to work out what the difference will be.

Standing charge now 0.57.79p a day

kWh £0.29.92 each.

Was

Standing charge £0.28.87 p a day

kWh £0.21.67 each

Gufo · 02/04/2022 05:11

We fixed taking into account what may happen in October - won't find out until then how stupid a decision that was!

OP posts:
Gufo · 02/04/2022 05:11

No exit fees and until March 23.

OP posts:
Ecosralayce · 02/04/2022 09:17

You know, I think that is not a bad decision. I may have been tempteed to fix at those rates too, especially with no exit fee.Who is it with?
But yes, in answer to your original quesiton that is a mad price for electricity!

BertieQueen · 02/04/2022 09:49

How many KWh of electric are people using in 24 hours?

We usually use 7-8 in 24 hours and suddenly yesterday used 12🤔

Was there anything unusual about how you used electricity yesterday?
BertieQueen · 02/04/2022 10:17

@cakeorwine no not at all. We was out of the house from 8am - 3:30pm. Which we usually are Monday - Friday so no change there. Even the my sons Tv/PlayStation was stitched off earlier than usual as had a early start today.

Going to keep watch today and see what happens 🤞

Mogloveseggs · 02/04/2022 10:19

I've fixed my gas at 13p but am thinking of pulling out into the variable if eon next will ever reply to my email!

Yikes....
dementedpixie · 02/04/2022 10:22

13p for gas is about 77% higher than the price capped rate I'm paying (7.329p)

Mogloveseggs · 02/04/2022 18:21

Have come off fixed onto variable but left the direct debit high to hopefully absorb another rise.
