Does anyone have any idea how to get biro ink out of a Totter & Tumble mat?

I knew I shouldn't have spent this much money on a bloody playmat.......

Help. Please.

I want to know the answer to this as well ☹️

ncforinkhelp · 06/04/2022 15:50

The answer is not nail polish remover like a YouTube video suggested.

I repeat - do not use nail polish remover!!!

You could try alcohol based hand sanitizer or actual vodka.

Alcohol usually lifts biro

Cotton bud and Vaseline with vigorous rubbing in one direction, not back and forth, you want to lift it off. Petroleum products lift off other oily products like biro ink and makeup well.

But the acid of the nail polish remover or anything chemical might have set it in

TerribleCustomerCervix · 06/04/2022 19:49

I got biro out of our posh bedding (thanks dd) using Elnet hairspray.

Worked amazingly- I’d sprayed it on liberally and it kind of melted/faded the ink. Then ran it through a normal washing machine cycle and it completely vanished.

Test on a small area first though!

Those white sponge things for cleaning??

SisterGabriel · 06/04/2022 23:42

Going to try everything, thank you all.

I got pen off a t+t with a squirt of WD40! I read that tip on here.

TheOpportuneMoment · 07/04/2022 15:12

They recommend a bicarbonate soda paste - not tried it though!

ncforinkhelp · 07/04/2022 17:06

Thanks so much all - the Vaseline idea is inspired, will try when home!!

Yup if water doesn’t do it with a stain, try Vaseline next, not anything chemical-y, and definitely don’t rub “in” just gets it into the grain or fibre and makes it impossible!

I know this thread of old now but did any of these work? I’ve got the exact same issue 😣.

Puddlelane123 · 19/04/2024 20:52

Bumping because despite posting a suggestion myself upthread I am now having the same issue and wondered if anyone has had success getting biro out of the T&T mat. Tried white sponge thing, rubbing alcohol - wondering if anyone had success with hairspray?

ScottyA · 20/10/2025 18:38

Any updates on anything that actually worked?

I just tried all of the above methods on totter and tumble with black biro all over.

Nothing worked 100%

elnet worked the best.
hand sanitizer was also decent

rubbing with washing up liquid and sponge was also pretty effective

bicarb paste did nothing
Vaseline did nothing

overall I now have a pale blue set of faded lines rather than bold black scrawl but it is still there.

booooo

Totter & tumble mat & biro.....
