Vacuum recommendations for new place?

Hello, I thought I’d ask here as you usually give great advice! What vacuum cleaner would you recommend for a couple with

  • small 2 bed flat
  • no kids
  • no pets
  • no carpet (all laminate wooden floors)
  • not that much to spend! (Up to £200)

We want something light and compact so I was thinking maybe an upright dyson or shark but there’s so many models and I can’t really tell the difference! Also cord vs cordless is a dilemma as I’ve heard the corded are more powerful? Thanks in advance!

I love my cordless. I don't think it's as powerful but it's dead handy just to grab it and do a quick vacuum so I'm definitely keeping things cleaner than I used to. It seemed like a chore to get out the big corded vacuum and I often only did it if I was going to do the whole house.

We have a dyson and it's fine, but I see a lot of people saying that shark is better. I'm actually thinking about getting a robot vacuum when we move later in the year.

Shark - I’ve just bought the HZ 500 and it’s brilliant, folds for storage too, a real bonus for me as I have a small place with very little storage space. Performance is excellent.

Sorry, forgot to say it’s a corded stick vacuum.

DO NOT buy a Dyson cordless!! I have one that I only use for a couple of rugs downstairs & it drives me nuts. A pigging pest to empty the dust bucket, then it thinks it's full & stops working! I usually get the hump with it & go get the corded upright Dyson. It's much better!
Henry hoovers are very good though 😉
