Been accused of hitting a parked car

A neighbour has accused me of hitting her parked car. She’s apparently matched up the paint marks (my car was hit in a car park last year) and is saying it’s me. She’s adamant it happened in a half hour time frame during which I was home with COVID.

The only time I left in my car that day was at lunchtime 5 hours before the time she’s saying the accident happened. We’ve got a ring doorbell so can use that to prove I was in and hadn’t left during the time the accident happened.

Any advice would be helpful.

Tell her to jog on.

Done that but I’m a bit of a worrier. She’s been back twice saying it had to have been me. If it was I’d have owned up!

"you're mistaken, I was at home as my doorbell footage will show".

Just tell her to take it through her insurer if she's so sure. Her insurer would contact yours and they'll deny liability on your behalf.

It's for the claimant to prove a claim, not for the defendant to disprove it. Don't worry, without any evidence, she won't get anywhere.

Thanks so much! That’s what I’m worried about. Glad it’s on her to prove it was me rather than me to prove it wasn’t. I was at home with family so have witnesses etc too

Don't answer the door if she comes again. Ignore her, you have done nothing wrong
