I smell rotten

Ever since I had covid around 5 months ago. My periods have changed, a few days before I come on. I get really bad wind. The smell is gross. I can only describe is as some sort of rotten food smell. I have not changed my diet . Any ideas ? Anyone has similar?

My arse has always smelled rotten so sorry I can’t help!

I find dropping one in the supermarket aisle and then legging it round the other side to be the best thing to do. Hth WinkGrin

It could be a good intolerance as Covid can bring on allergies and intolerances even if you’ve never had them before. I’m not sure why it would be worse close to your period but it might be a good place to start with eliminating causes. Maybe try eliminating lactose one month. If no difference reintroduce it and try gluten the next, then nightshades, then onions and other related veg etc.

You must have some less than friendly gut flora in there then. How about gorging on Actimel or similar for a couple of weeks? That might help.

Maybe you get a bit constipated before your period.
It’s not your sense of smell changing is it?

Are you sure you smell rotten and your sense of smell hasn't changed. My smell still isn't the same since I had covid last autumn. Sorry to be crude but toilet smells and my dogs farts smell different. Hard to explain 😁

Like a pp I would suggest probiotics as a first step, followed shortly afterwards add in pre biotics

I do find pre biotics make me windy but it's not smelly wind but that's why I would suggest doing the probiotics first for a week or so.

Live yoghurt is good but I find it easier to take capsules.

It may not be you that's smelling worse, but rather that you now have a heightened sense of smell.

Hyperosmia has been reported after COVID, but also may be down to hormonal changes. I've noticed this myself now in menopause, and also did during pregnancy.
