EDF site maintenance today when everyone has been advised to update reads

Unable to log into edf due to site maintenance on today of all days
Wonder how long this site maintenance will last

We've just done it on the app after seeing the website was down for maintenance! No probs! You can upload pics as proof too x

Yes, all at once. That's what happens when traffic exceeds predicted server capacity. Oddly enough it also happens to other companies on huge demand days.

I can't imagine any of the energy companies were willing to pay for extra server capacity for a one off day when there are automated phone lines and apps as an alternative.

Just because it was a recommendation to read your meters today, doesn't mean that you necessarily have to submit it today. In a lot of cases it won't make much, if any difference, especially if you're with a company that asks for monthly reads anyway, which most do in my experience.

Then why say down for maintenance?

They knew it was coming, yanno sending out a pair of socks to 'help' one of them did. They know the pain it's going to inflict so yes they should have fucking planned for it and paid for that extra day if that's what it took.

SSE down for maintenance too. I'd already submitted my readings but I got an e-mail that my latest bills are available to view on the website. Are they buggery!

Because that's the pre-programmed message whenever most websites hit a glitch. Surely that's not difficult to understand?

There is no conspiracy to swindle people out of extra pennies (the difference between submitting between today and tomorrow). Do you really think they want the extra grief?

Eon are currently refusing to take my electricity reading which is a 1000 units more than they've estimated 😱

Take a photo of the meter. They can't refuse an actual reading, especially if you can back it up with a clear photo of your meter, making sure you capture the serial number too.

Then call and lodge a complaint and insist you are billed to the correct meter reading.

The trouble is 1000 units more will probably be out of tolerance so their computer can say "no" but there are procedures to overwrite this.

I emailed EON yesterday and got a reply within the day, inviting me to submit my reading by replying to the email which I did, also sending a photo of the meter
