Have there been any news reports that it is?

GeneLovesJezebel · 31/03/2022 09:24

Not that I know of. I’m just checking.
Got a few elderly relatives whose meters I’m reading today. So want to do it right.

I don't have a water meter, but by annual bill has actually gone down!

NippyWoowoo · 31/03/2022 09:28

As I've only been hearing/reading about gas and electricity, and I've not gotten a new estimate from them, I'm assuming that's a no.

Tomikka · 31/03/2022 09:56

It won’t hurt to take a photo of your meter today, then you have a timestamped reading if needed at a later date

Vegansausageroll · 31/03/2022 10:02

I can’t read my water meter it’s hidden underground - apparently the bin truck reads it!

Northernsoullover · 31/03/2022 10:09

I don't even know where mine is ! It does get read though.

Comefromaway · 31/03/2022 10:12

When I moved into my house with a water meter I was told I can't read it.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 31/03/2022 10:12

Couldn’t read my meter if I wanted to, can’t access it.

nearlyspringyay · 31/03/2022 10:13

Same. No access it's way under the pavement.

Maflingo · 31/03/2022 10:33

If your meter is outside, you should have a small access point in the pavement near your gate/drive. You might need something to lift the cover with (I used a metal weeding tool) and then you can see your meter and also your water shut off valve if you don’t have a stop cock in the house - so worth taking on a look when you get a chance!

Intriguing.

But that sounds far too sensible and joined up to be actually true. Or are you not in the UK?

The meters have a short range radio capability which is collected via a sensor
