Leaving 15 year old alone?

Would you leave a 15 year old boy alone at home for a week whilst you go on holiday? Family will check in on him.
He doesn't want to go with the rest of the family.

When I was 16 I house sat with a friend for a week at mum dads house as he was away with work. His neighbours would come round and check up on us, my mum phoned every day and we were sensible but we had each other and were nearly both 17.

I stayed at home for a week when I was 16 as didn't want to go on the family holiday. Wasn't an issue.

There's quite a big difference between 15 and 16 though. I left DS for 3 nights to go to Ireland at 16 (without any real backup, because we didn't have any). At 15, a night away was most appropriate.

@VeniVidiWeeWee

Just over a hundred years ago he could have been in France fighting for his country.

Have teenagers become incapable of behaving well since then?

Only if he lied about his age. In any case, that involved drinking, smoking, using prostitutes and killing other people. Not keeping the house clean and not inviting his mates over for a party every night.

Wouldn't this be a safeguarding issue if the school was aware?
