Winnie the Pooh newspaper strip

74 replies

AutumnOrange · 30/03/2022 20:53

Years ago there was a drawing of Winnie the Pooh (and either tigger or eyeore) looking out to some fresh snow and a caption beneath it. I cut it out of the newspaper because I loved it so much. Been googling to try and find it but either I am not using the right words or maybe it no longer exists.
Can anyone help?

Lovely thread Smile
@UselessTrees. My apologies🌸

(For my thoughts! 🤣🤣)

@AutumnOrange

So it wasn't pooh
It was a strip
It wasn't black & white
It was very different wording...

But other than that - well remembered!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thank god for @uselesstrees 🌸

I hope the picture & the thread really helps. Xx
@uselesstrees
Thank you. Tomorrow is a new day.
I felt a right twat posting this thread initially 😂 But it was the best thing I could have done today because it has made me smile - all because strangers were looking for a cartoon strip for me. Life is funny sometimes!

You are more than welcome, it’s made me quite emotional as well. I used to listen to them with my Mum and she recently passed away very suddenly ❤️
So sorry to hear about your mum. It was the anniversary of my mums death recently and I think that’s why I went to a tail spin and got obsessed with finding this cartoon.
Hope this thread has made you smile Flowers

@MrsDeaconClaybourne - I can't find that one (I sort of don't want to see it either, think it might send me over the edge!). When I search for the last one it brings up the snowy one

Violetroselily · 31/03/2022 20:43

What a lovely thread ❤

For me they were the only "person" who read me a story every night. I played them to destruction whilst my parents argued, on a tiny and tinny cassette player.

I feel very much like it's people holding hands all over the shop! I'll go to sleep listening to that tonight, the Oboe (?) Kanga and roo!

RedScarfJamjar · 31/03/2022 20:47

@AutumnOrange I'm sad to hear of your anniversary. But thankyou for reminding so many of us of long-forgotten comic strips!

I bought my son several 1980s Garfield books for his stocking last Christmas. We need to keep this stuff going Grin

LadyPenelope68 · 31/03/2022 20:52

@AutumnOrange 💐 for your anniversary and thank you for starting what’s turned into such a lovely thread x

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 31/03/2022 21:15

I can't find it now either so feel like I imagined it but I'm sure it had an old Calvin in bed talking to Hobbes then his Grandson went off with Hobbe in his 'real' form. I can only see the one this thread was about and fanfiction now.

The fairly recent Snoopy film coincided with a really difficult time for our family and I still have a lovely memory of taking the DC to see it on the first day of the Christmas holiday. It was like a giant comfort blanket. Flowers for everyone on here

It was the anniversary of my mums suicide this year - I was just a teenager. For one reason and another I found the anniversary this year really hard.
This thread has indeed been like a warm hug and I can’t thank each and every one of you enough.
Especially @UselessTrees
Flowers and lovely times to all of you for making my day 😊

(((HUG))). Oh that must be SO hard, losing a parents is hard enough at any age (41!!) let alone as a teenager & though accudent/I'll health (massive sudden heart attack), but like that, so much harder.

Look after yourself 🌸🌸& come and chat when you need a bit if looking after BrewCake

MN had a reputation for being a nest of vipers, now it's reputation is much worse, BUT when the chips are down, there NO place like it. There's always someone around for a hug or to listen... or to find random things!!

AutumnOrange · 01/04/2022 00:39

@mugglemadness

Thank you.
MN has saved my life on several occasions over the last decade or so that I have been coming on here. It never ceases to surprise me how there are so many people out there just willing to help even if at first it is over something as small as a cartoon strip yet it was so much more to me.
So sorry to hear of your loss - it’s hard being an adult sometimes! My oldest dc is 22 and I wonder what the hell I am doing and why my kids think I have the answer to everything. Approaching my mums age when she died has just brought it home to me. My daughter is now the age I was when my mum died which itself raises all kinds of emotions. Sorry for the rambling! This was a lovely thread and I don’t want to bring it down.
Thank you everyone again

I also like the quote on the image whatdodo linked to.

“What day is it?” asked Pooh.
“It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.
“My favorite day,” said Pooh.

@Bionicname. I love that!! I love Pooh & friends, but it reminds me of someone who it hurts to think about. But I'm sad to have lost 'his' thoughts/quotes!

Snoopy has always been my hero though, makes me laugh.

@AutumnOrange. You bring your mums age, DD being your age when you list your Mum, that's bound to really have an impact! My Dad, was very relieved when he got through the age my Grandad was when he died, he had thought about it a lot that year, but hadn't realised how badly it had affected him. He lived a decade longer, but he was still only 65 & full of life, happy, thought healthy, certainly felt fine! Life is certainly harsh at times xx

Definitely need more quotes...

Podgedodge · 01/04/2022 01:46

@MrsDeaconClaybourne, there is a “redditor writes a moving ending for Calvin and Hobbes “which is similar to the piece you describe. It’s not a cartoon strip though, but a piece of prose. If you Google those words it should come up.

HereIfYouNeedMe · 01/04/2022 02:25

@Podgehodge thanks. I've seen that one but in my head I'd seen the actual cartoon strip. Perhaps I'd read it and then my imagination filled in the gaps.

AlwaysFireFighting · 01/04/2022 07:10

I'm so glad you have the strip back on your noticeboard OP. Best wishes to you Flowers
