My son says everything tastes like meatballs

Ds was ill a few weeks ago. Strange sickness/lightheaded episodes a few days apart. The first meal he had when he felt better was Italian meatballs.
Since then he says that all meals taste the same and that (sorry for graphic information!) his farts, poos and wees also smell like this.
I’ve dismissed it up til now but he’s adamant that this is happening.
Can anyone shine a light on what it might be?!

Well we all know what the suggestions going to be, don't we?!

Presumably he lost his taste when he was poorly? It's probably psychological, but what does his breath smell like?

Damn should have said not covid. (Well-as far as daily lfts showed). He didn’t lose taste when ill.
He did have covid back in November and lost taste briefly then but no issues since until (after) the sickness.
I haven’t specifically smelt his breath but haven’t noticed anything. I can’t say I’ve noticed the farts etc either myself

Ha it's the standard MN go to!

Have a look to see if he's got tonsil stones or something strange like that. Any kind of infection could affect his sense of smell and taste

He's probably just stuffed up and we're all hypersensitive to it because of bloody covid. I always lost taste / smell with a nose full of snot.

Not sure if this is helpful but years ago I had a D&V bug which started after eating a tuna jacket potato - I don't think the food was the culprit as my friend had had a similar bug, but for ages after I could taste/smell tuna, as that was what I'd been throwing up when I was sick (apologies if that's a bit TMI!). Must have been psychological as I don't think there is any other rational explanation. Faded away eventually!

I'd say Covid. My smell and taste has been absent or distorted and a taste and smell can kind of inhabit your nose. Definitely what came out had same smell as what went in Blush
