I want my midlife crisis

Pushing 50, just out of the pandemic and really feeling that I need to DO something irrational.

I have so far lost a couple of stone - and bought some slightly teenagerish clothes that I am thinking about wearing. I am dying to go clubbing. I want a weekend away abroad. I am considering exercise classes so I can arse about in my new trainers. Trying not to drink too much but seem to have booked lots of nights out due to this weird mood I can't shake- is it post pandemic or is it my age?

Anyone else got a bit of this feeling, and ideas on how to channel it a bit? Am I alone in wanting to do stupid things?

I don't know, I never stopped doing some of those things, like buying teenagerish clothes and having boozy nights out clubbing. If you want to do it, go for it. Life is for living. Call it a midlife crisis, or just enjoying life while you can.

Doesn't sound stupid to me, sounds like a passion for living and having fun! Well done on your weight loss, that's amazing!

Let your energy take you on a fun adventure. Why not eh? Enjoy yourself x

I'm a bit the same post lockdowns! Going to see loads of live bands this year and love going to London at the moment.
Unfortunately though my DP is very much the opposite and I feel he's ageing prematurely, so that's not exactly fun as it's making me want my freedom Sad

@Arcadia yes, dp not so keen so that's also awkward for me too!

I'm doing stuff on my own and with friends, but it's causing a bit of a rift. He's a slippers and allotment man!

I think your post just filled me with hope!! At 46 and in the thick of long covid and peri menopause the thought of clubbing, travelling and having fun seems like the past and not the future.

Enjoy and thank you for giving me hope.

I've never stopped buying teenagerish clothes, don't think I ever will actually!

Definitely do something out of the norm if you fancy it. I'm 45 this year and I've decided when my youngest is into her teens (she's 11 now so I guess when I'm 50ish) I'm going to buy a motorbike and go off to the coast to cruise on the cliff roads, into a pub for lunch, then off into the sunset again!

Kwackerly · 29/03/2022 22:36

@VampireMoney that is exactly the sort of thing I fancy doing, god that sounds amazing! @pleaseletmesleeptonight I felt like that a few years ago Flowers I hope you get your moment!

@Kwackerly wouldn't it be fun? That's the plan anyway.

I'm also happy to travel alone so the odd weekend away in a hotel or B&B is something to work towards too.
