hi all, a bit baffled about travel insurance. Got two trips coming up, portugal and USA. would it be cheaper to buy multi trip? Also in general do I have to specify covid cover on the policy or would a trip cover general illness including covid if we caught it and couldn't go? Not sure how it is all working! And there are so many add ons and options I am a bit baffled. What would you get for sure for the add ons? Anything I should watch out for that might be missing that I need to check is included? Finally any decent insurers??? I'm on a budget.

Op...can't help you as I am in the same situation so following closely if that's ok !!

I went on money saving .com ( the meerkats one ?) And I think COVID was covered on the policies I looked .
Just not voluntary cancellations.

Was looking at 4 individual annual trips .
All 4 quotes for each of us with same cover ...were all different prices !!

I'm using staysure for usa and European trips including cruise, their mid policy. It includes covid cover

Any pre holiday medical issues including depression and meds. You need to tell them. Most people don't bother but if you have another claim and this crops up your insurance can be void. I'm from an insurance family

If the US is one of your two destinations, then yes, it will certainly be worth it to buy a year-long multi trip policy. We'll be going to the States for Easter. We priced it out as a single trip vs a multi-trip policy (as we may return again this summer) and it was only about 20 quid more for the multi trip policy vs the single trip.

We also went with StaySure (I have a couple pre-existing conditions)
