Hi Mumsnet, travelling to Boston for a week in April and intend using revolut card and credit card also if required.
How much in cash dollars should I plan to bring for incidentals, really don’t want to carry much cash but also need to have sufficient for tips, taxis or whatever else. Any experience or advice gratefully received.

You can just get cash there - probably get a better exchange rate from a cash point than you would a bank. Just as an FYI you can also do most tips on card now.

If you really want to bring cash, I'd say $100 in small bills, but that will likely be more than you need.

Thank you @allfurcoatnoknickers was stressing a little about organising dollars so will use atm there and card as much as possible.

Have a great time! I loved it there.

If you are eating out a fair bit perhaps take/draw out a bit more. Tipping is 20%. There were a lot of affordable food options but we found the restaurants a bit less varied so ate at markets/casual food places more.

Ohh thanks for the tips, have yet to start the itinerary research so will look for food markets as a starting point 🙂

$100 will be more than enough if you are tipping on your card (which is ‘normal’). Are you driving and might need cash for tolls? Apart from that I’ve not needed any cash for a week in the USA. In fact there are signs everywhere saying there is a national change shortage so card or exact change are preferred.

Thanks @LoopyDream, no plans for car hire but noted re tipping on a card payment so I can do that.
