How do you listen to music?

Sorry not the most riveting topic!!

Looking to buy some sort of Walkman (do they even exist anymore?!) for my 9 year old to listen to music on. Really it's for her to listen to Spotify, we don't download music or have CDs.

I don't really want her using a tablet or computer, she uses music to chill out and I don't want the temptation of other apps.

Does such a thing exist? Thanks for any help!

Indoors I use a Google home thing , it’s like Alexa but not Amazon .

Can you still get a bog standard iPod? They are tiny little things that literally just play music - not sure how to link to Spotify though?

My daughter has Bluetooth headphones that you can put a memory card in, and play music directly from. We don't use that, she listeners to my Spotify account via her tablet, wirelessly.
Google kids headphones and you'll see ones with a memory card slot.

Or if you specifically need it to listen to Spotify, could she listen to it via a smartphone Bluetooth?

Thanks everyone.

I think what I'm looking for maybe doesn't exist, in my head there is a basic ipod that has spotify instead of downloaded music.

I'm so reluctant to give her other tech, like the Google home or her tablet. But maybe it's an exercise in trust 🙄 and she can use the tablet but only spotify and I'll get her a decent speaker and wireless headphones.

She loves music and it's good for any random moods she goes in. But I'm strict on screen time with her... perhaps something has to give!

can she access amazon music through an alexa. She won't need a device, you can have it on yours and she can then just tell alexa what she wants to listen to.

DS has an Alexa at home but out and about he uses his AirPods and iPhone. I had an iPod as a teen which was great, you could probably still buy an old one but it obvs wouldn’t have Spotify.

you can listen to spotify through amazon alexa, but create playlists on your spotify for her as many songs on spotify are not the radio edits though so becareful letting her selected herself

I'm sure you can buy a music player like an old ipod on eBay - and if you get one with a USB connector, you can connect to your computer to sync Spotify tracks to the ipod.
