What to expect from oral surgery tomorrow?

So long story short, had a root canal that failed, so had the tooth extracted and it broke. Dentist dug around for a bit and failed to get the root out. I’ve been on antibiotics since (5 days now) and I’m seeing the oral surgeon tomorrow to finish the job.

What do you think the options are for taking the root out? It’s all new to me.

Thanks

I haven't had that, but have had oral surgery for root canal that got infected years later.

Surgery was ok cos I'd had a sedative (don't cope well with dentists). Mine lasted several hours.

Quite a bit of bruising on my face after, and felt knackered - really wiped out for a couple of days.

I hate the dentist. Third visit tomorrow in 8 days, all for procedures. I was terrified for the root canal, then the extraction and now tomorrow. My poor jaw and gums are so sore already from all the pulling and drilling and I’m dreading the anaesthetic again as I always need a top up.

Oh I'm sending you a big unmumsnetty hug!

Ask if you can be sedated. Don't try and be brave.

Since my surgery it has solved all the issues I had with that tooth- and that was 12 years ago.
