Where to buy prescription glasses online?

I lost a pair of my glasses leaving me with only one pair, I need some more spare but my local optician has quoted £125 for the cheapest I can get. I really can't afford this at the moment so I was wondering about trying to buy online.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for an online service please?

I only ever order online once, I sent them back as they made my vision wobble in them!

Are they just single vision & is your prescription up to date?

For single vision, you can’t go wrong with glasses direct.

Last time I checked, no quibble refund policy (which I’ve used despite me making a mistake when ordering). Great customer service.

You can buy your glasses from anywhere it doesn't matter where you have your eye test. Your optician by law has to give you a copy of your prescription and you just take it with you to wherever you buy them from, I have done the same with specsavers and they didn't care.

I buy mine from Glasses Direct. I've recently bought a pair of Ted Baker specs, in fact they are being delivered today, for £65 including lenses and anti reflective coating. You can usually find a discount code if you have a Google. Delivery time isn't the quickest, but at that price I can't really complain.

And if you pay by PayPal you may get the option to pay over 3 months to spread the cost too.

I got a couple of pairs from glasses direct as back-ups. My usual sets are £400/pop, but I wanted some I could wear swimming/dog walking and not cry forever if they got damaged. I also got sunglasses. Both pairs cost under £30 using a variety of discount codes.

I've used Glasses Direct twice now and can't fault them. You can order frames to try for free before you decide which to buy. There are always deals. The most I've paid is £65 for two pairs

What about varifocals? Anyone had any joy with them please? Thanks.

It's more difficult with varifocals but if you have an asda opticians nearby they will fit them to your prescription if you take it in good choice of frames parking and open longer than most others.
Much cheaper than regular high street type opticians even specsaver

I've used SelectSpecs for mine in the past, as has DH, and no issues. Last time I was in the op to opticians they tried to sell me glasses and frames costing £500, so I politely said no thank you and went home and ordered a lovely pair for £50

I like Glasses direct too. Have ordered a couple of pairs in the past and ordered another pair last night, thinned lenses with the Transitions coating so they double as sunglasses £96 including delivery.

Asda also do flat prices starting at £45 so that covered frames and lenses with the lenses thinned to the level they need to be to fit the frame.

Do you have an Asda opticians near you? They might be cheaper than you’ve been quoted.

Glasses direct are fantastic. I got the wrong prescription at spec savers and had the glasses made up by glasses direct. Even though it wasn't their fault they changed them free of charge when I got a new prescription

Weird so many pp have good things to say about glasses direct, they were the ones I had issue with!

I even supplied them with the PD measurement so it was really bad that they were so wrong.

Your prescription is yours op. You can take it to any optician you like.

I've used Glasses Direct often and they are very good, but more recently I've just taken my prescription into SpecSavers or Vision Express.. They are just as cheap but you can try them on first and and they also fit them properly. If you live near a city branch some of them have a 1 hour service.

Glasses direct. I ordered and they were a bit loose but I sent them back and they tightened them. Really good service.

I've used goggles4u and really happy with them. I ordered two pairs, one i loved and the other i didn't like so much so theyre my backup pair. Google discounts codes or sign up to the email newsletter, they're frequently doing up to 70% off. Got two pairs for about £25 each including anti glare.
