Ohh lots of names from the past here

I’ve been here since 2006 - we had a lovely group of overseas MNers on the Living Overseas board and we had several long-running threads “From Our Own Correspondent” FOOC , where we all chatted about our everyday life in forrin’ climes Smile

Wonder if anyone else is still around from then?

Also @iCod I’ve told you this before but it always makes me think of you and laugh when I pick up my Kindle, as you once told me that my Kindle cover was “gopping” Grin (I was recommending it on a thread)

My Kindle is always known as my “gopping Kindle”’even though the cover is now vair stylish Wink

iCod · 31/03/2022 07:28

Lol at gopping. I see the 👙 thread going well. I hid it but they’re still banging on

Who’d have thought a Boden swimsuit could cause much handwringing

I'm still here since 2003, lots of name changes.

Went to a meet-up with Littlefish, NorbertDestrangle/BettySpaghetti & others think GetorfMoiLand was also there.

Agree ScottishMummy was a bit scary!

I loved GetorfMoiLand's posts.

I'm sure she had strong views on how often you should change your bedding! She also gave some very good advice to posters in difficult situations.

@IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble
GetOrf was good fun wasn't she, we were very close by geographically.

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 31/03/2022 09:06

@DeathWinsAGolfish she always seemed really kind and like she would be a great laugh in real life.

iklboo · 31/03/2022 09:33

Let us not forget darling Zombie. I miss the bell out of her.

Geamhradh · 31/03/2022 09:45

Getorf was (and am sure still is) wonderful. She once shouted at a lot of people for being nasty to me when I mentioned dd (then aged 4) had been upset about finding out something she believed wasn't true. I said I'd shed a little tear for dd who had been so upset about it, and the pile in started.
We also cried together when Gordon Brown came on the webchat just before the election he lost.
(PS don't wish to infer that all I ever did with GOML was cry btw, there was lots of hooting laughter as well)

Yes - I love the fact that Candy Hugs are her legacy
iklboo · 31/03/2022 10:14

The hell out of Z. I'm not sure she had a bell 😂.

Fiderer · 31/03/2022 10:59

ikl If she'd had a bell it would have been to summon a whiskey and a smoke.

iklboo · 31/03/2022 11:01

You got that right Fid ☺️

ssd · 31/03/2022 11:04

I always think of biscuitsandbandages kids dressing up for Eid and visiting her in the hospital. And her little baby daughter in her best dress. Its heartbreaking. But she was so very stoic. I hope her husband and 3 kids have found some happiness.

I didn't post much back then but I do remember pancake day

It's flour and eggs and milk you fuckwits (I paraphrase slightly)

UrsulaPandress · 31/03/2022 23:17

What on earth was said that got deleted?

Downtherefordancing · 31/03/2022 23:52

Loving reading these posts. I’ve been here on and off since 2007-ish. Name was StirlingMum back then.

I remember a lot of the old timers, although back in the day I mainly posted on relationships board. Got loads of great advice from some amazing women.

You’ve made me laugh so many times iCod. Good to know you’re still out there, kicking ass :)

IncyWincyGrownUp · 01/04/2022 02:08

Whoever mentioned Nickel, she has a presence on Facebook and is still a bookseller.

DrTastic · 01/04/2022 05:40

No idea @UrsulaPandress, but let's see if Gina Ford, who I believe was the original inspiration for Voldemort, still triggers the Mods.

people just don't cross things out anymore nor do they

What lovely blasts from the past! Joined in 2003 when DS was a scrumptious newborn. Mainly just to lurk and read and to feel less alone.

I only ever posted on childcare threads and now dating ones ...

Have never name changed though. I probably need to. But then again all you'd ever find out was that I used to fret for hours about au pairs and nannies, now about dating challenges but fundamentally I blame my ex h for both obsessions cos IF HE HAD EVER DONE ANY EFFING CHILDCARE I'd not have spent my life savings on it nor would I now be such an expert on on line dating cos once I finally woke up to his financially abusive and gaslighting ways I went and LTB

So sad that I didn't do it earlier when I could have posted live updates on how upset he was about potentially losing his fancy car me maybe getting maintenance if I played my cards right and people such as Cod or Xenia could have cheered me on from the sidelines

I have no idea why my comment was deleted I'm going to bloody well ask! It was an answer to a question regarding a very old thread.
