What's the fine for unauthorised school absence?

All I can find online is that it says £60 per parent per child but no reference to the timescale. Per day? Per week? Per absence period?

I find it odd that the government guidance doesn't specify, it's very vague.

@AHungryCaterpillar

How does it work if a parent is absent, never been to the school but on the bc? 🤔
It doesnt. The parents have to be registered with the school, my exh was/is an absent dad and when i went on holiday with our son i was fined £60, as its £60 per parent, they didnt fine him as they didnt have any details for him.

No, but the school can't fine you until the child reaches compulsory school age, which is the term after they are 5.
