Taxi after LASEK laser eye surgery

My husband is due to have LASEK laser eye surgery next week in London. He's going to get a taxi home (40 mins or so). Will he need someone with him in the taxi? I think the clinic can call one for him but I'm trying to decide whether I need to take a day off to go home with him in the taxi (I WFH so will be at home when he arrives back).

No, he doesn't need anyone else.

Not essential in my experience. I’d get him to have the right money ready as my eyes were so watery and light sensitive that I’d of struggled to count money

Thank you, good to hear. Any other tips to make the days after surgery more bearable??

When I had my eyes done I did need someone afterwards as u eyes were very watery and blurred. I couldn't see very well initially and I'd have not felt comfortable getting out of the hospital via the lifts/stairs abd across the roads to a suitable pick up location.
An hour or two later I'd have been okay too but not straight away.

So it may depend on the location of the clinic and where he can get the taxi.

The next day I was fine though Dh did drive me to and from the check up.

That day I just needed a darkened room for a while. I was advised not to try and 'use my eyes' much to start with so somewhere he can sit or lie comfortable listening to something, where the curtains can be drawn. Dh brought me drinks.
It was painful but the first afternoon was stingy and not overly comfortable. They got more stingy as the anaesthesia wore off.

Thank you, will check where the clinic is and where taxis can stop etc
