Tell me about your “fantastic” Mother’s Day morning so far….(lighthearted)

DC (8) gave me a lovely hand made card and a tacky photo frame (but very cute thought)

DC (13) didn’t bother to say happy Mother’s Day, reluctantly made me a cup of tea that tastes like cats piss, no card, grumbled and went back to bed.

DC (8) has now brought me some out of date yoghurt as a “treat”

What a sense of occasion!

What have yours done for you…?

Woken around 5am by dd4 sayings it's mother's day, happy mother's day!..cute but.. Sent her back to bed!
About 30 mins later dd4 came in again wanting a hug. Then a bit later wanting breakfast. Prodded DH to wake him up....no movement. Then ds8 came in saying his chin was bleeding. Husband still deep sleep....as per usual. So got up. Sorted kids and now sitting on sofa watching a film with kids. Dd did bring me my cards tho. Heart felt squiggle from her. From my son a very formal message...to mum, from (inset son's name). About to treat myself to my second cup of coffee made by myself.

Twinkletowedelephant · 27/03/2022 09:53

Boy was either confused or running on genius status, as knew special breakfast was in order, so requested dippy eggs with bacon and toast soliders :)

Was apparently delicious 😋 there was only enough eggs for him :)

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 27/03/2022 09:54

I normally get breakfast in bed, flowers and chocs but tricky this year as everyone bar me is COVID +ve
I had to go out and buy my own cards and flowers as they couldn’t 🤣

At 7am DH dutifully went upstairs with the DCs to allow me a lie-in. Leaving Ddog who is in heat and extremely needy on me. He then proceeded to luxuriate in a lie-in himself until about 9am at which time a pigeon decided to fly into the house - pooing several times in the process and scaring the dog. For some unknown reason I can hear them when they talk, but they cannot hear me when I yell. I was presented with a flowers, a card and new pajamas which is nice.

Sturmundcalm · 27/03/2022 09:57

i have the covid so plans for the weekend were cancelled... think i'm getting a fancy cooked breakfast soon though!

MoonBat · 27/03/2022 09:57

Single parent. Have had nowt yet as my two younger ones are at their dad's, my eldest is staying over at a friend's. Not expecting anything as ex is crap, when we were together it was either nothing or last minute shit.
Kids may have done something at school!
I have had a lovely lie in though, I am actually still in bed which NEVER happens so I'm making the most of it.

katiejemima · 27/03/2022 09:57

I’ve had a lovely morning so far. DH and Ddog brought me tea and my cards/gifts from the DC in bed (my DC are all adults and live some distance away). I’d never managed to get a photograph of all the DC and their families together so was very teary when I opened it. Ddog has apparently arranged lunch paid for from his bonio money at 1.00 and he got me a flowering jasmine plant 😂

DaphneduM · 27/03/2022 10:01

Had my Mothers day yesterday - my daughter came over with lovely cards, one from her and one from my grandson, who I look after a couple of days a week. Gorgeous flowers and a wicker hamper with gin glass, chocs, and other goodies. Had a text this morning too, and a pic of our grandson smothered in his mother's Mother's day choc!!!!

TheirTheyre · 27/03/2022 10:02

Asked me for money and a lift to work. Mother’s Day is always soooo special. 😕

Girlmumdogmumboymum · 27/03/2022 10:03

Eldest hasn't surfaced, she quite happily told me she actually purchased my card this year, but Dad bought the gifts. She has hundreds of pounds so that stung a little!

Youngest who is in womb apparently ordered me a massive pillow and told his dad I needed a cup of tea and some babybel for energy to make breakfast.

Baby doggo has got his "mum" a hanging Christmas ornament that says "For Christmas all I want is my balls back" he's looked forlorn today so I'm inclined to think he actually did infact choose and purchase that gift!

DH has gone to buy some steak so I can prepare a breakfast I will actually enjoy. Steak, garlic tenderstem and mushrooms. (Trying to avoid flour and sugar cos it makes me ravenous!)

Not too bad, I just wish that DD was a bit more thoughtful.

PegasusReturns · 27/03/2022 10:04

@Afolnerd sorry to hear that - it’s really true that they don’t get easier isn’t it? Hope your DS is contrite this morning.

Christmas1988 · 27/03/2022 10:04

Two beautiful handmade cards and a gorgeous pair of HANDMADE slippers from the children ages 7 and 4. I don’t think I’ll be able to wear the slippers but I love them all the same even if they are very glittery!

ToxicBuns · 27/03/2022 10:06

Up at 06:30 new time. Cleaned, dusted, hoovered everywhere, put the roast in the oven, cleaned the conservatory windows, fed the birds. DS (13) is still in his pit and my DH is waiting for me to read him some true ghost accounts. I don't really do occasions they make me feel strange and uncomfortable being the centre of attention.

ThatsGoingToHurt · 27/03/2022 10:06

DH and DD have covid so I’m my knees as I’ve had the week from hell at work plus doing everything in the house and looking after DS.

Had a funny card and a photoshoot. I haven’t lost any of the baby weight and I’m at my heaviest weight ever and very self conscious…

BlueCookieMonster · 27/03/2022 10:07

I got tea and toast in bed, some cards, flowers followed by cuddles with youngest.

Fairly happy with my lot.

Glenthebattleostrich · 27/03/2022 10:07

First one up at 7:30. Took the dog out, did an exercise video, enjoyed my morning brew in peace before the husband appeared muttering about the child not being up to give gifts

Child emerged about half an hour ago, got me an alice in Wonderland bag (my favourite character) and some socks because I'm an old lady who loves a nice pair of socks! She cant find my card.

We are going out for lunch today at my favourite restaurant so will have a cocktail and some wine and I treated myself to a delicious cheesecake and new t-shirt!

YerAWizardHarry · 27/03/2022 10:08

DP left before I was up to take DSS (6) to a football thing that will last most of the day. I’m still upstairs contemplating starting the day.!DS (8) is in his bedroom downstairs, doubt he even knows it’s Mother’s Day (although to be fair he’s been unwell and missed some school so I’ll let him off)

I don’t think there is a card or any gifts for me Sad

Bootothegoose · 27/03/2022 10:09

DS came in at four o'clock screaming and covered in shit after pooing in his sleep (something he's not done for a year or more).

In the panic of waking up he had taken off his pyjama bottoms (had sat down to do it), put his hand in his pyjamas and trodden on them on his way out of his room. Also seems to have lovingly stroked his bedroom furniture and all walls and doors on his journey to me.

Dear Reader, I have been cleaning shit since 4/3 am. DH has been on a night shift so only got back at 8 after which point we were all up and awake somewhat out of the Mothering Sunday Spirit.

I've been given some lovely flowers, cards and we're going out for a pub tea tomorrow night but the piste resistance was I went to bite a hang nail and discovered there was a remnant of DS' nighttime escapades lingering beneath the surface.

HAPPY FUCKING MOTHER'S DAY.

MayMorris · 27/03/2022 10:09

@Pizzadreams

Got a text saying happy Mother’s Day, I love you so much, will face time at x time and you’re getting a delivery today.

My husband said “aye that will be a big bag of washing” 😂😂😂😂

🤣🤣🤣🤣
Funkyslippers · 27/03/2022 10:09

Got up.at 9.15 new time and had a cup of tea with DD1 who set her alarm for 8 to do college work but wished she hadn't so was tired and stressed. DD2 and OH in bed. Made myself a bacon sandwich whilst keeping an eye on our 15 week old kittens who are into everything.
Off to David Lloyd in a bit with DD1 and having a coffee after, her treat. Presents will no doubt be opened once everyone has surfaced. One of them is bottle shaped so I'll be happy 😁

Eve · 27/03/2022 10:12

DH is with his family for a few weeks in different country, DS1 on gap year in different country , DS2 at Uni - all have forgotten.

Will wait til an appropriate point this afternoon to wish myself Happy Mother’s Day on family WhatsApp and then await the panicked calls and email vouchers.

Very passive aggressive I know but as all 3 rely on me to do admin stuff for them frequently they are getting no service from me for a few weeks.

My mum passed away 6 years ago so I make a donation to Marie Curie who looked after her and us in her memory. I miss her so much.

Whitewolf2 · 27/03/2022 10:12

My 4 and 5 year olds gave me a card and some mini eggs, but since then has been the same old sh*t different day! Multiple tantrums and strops about things, have put Encanto on so I can hide and have a cup of tea in peace!

PenguinIce · 27/03/2022 10:13

My late teen ds forget that the supermarkets were not 24 hour on Sat night/sun morning so his plan of getting me something on his way home from the pub was ruined. He then decided to make me a card and was so proud of his creation (that was no better than anything he done at the age of 5) that he had to wake me up at 2am to show me.
