I love it so much! So many good quotes; it bears watching again and again…

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/03/2022 16:15

I hate it.

Elderflower14 · 26/03/2022 16:19

I can see how Tom Hanks got the Best Actor Oscar... 💙

I hate it too. But I like to see films that are referenced so much in pop culture so that I can make up my own mind.

Toloveandtowork · 26/03/2022 16:43

Good film, very amusing, but a load of sentimental old tosh. Oh, and the devoted mother, urg, who lived her life for her son it seemed.

parrotonthesofa · 26/03/2022 17:51

I watched it for the first time last week too! Dp couldn't believe I'd never seen it! Really enjoyed it.

Ilkleymoor · 26/03/2022 17:54

Hated it. Plus they changed some important things from the book.

Yellowleadbetter · 26/03/2022 18:00

Fabulous film, just lovely and sweet.
Enjoy op

SouthOfFrance · 26/03/2022 18:06

I like the way bits of real life history are interwoven in it

Leggingslife · 26/03/2022 18:08

Like what?
RandomDent · 26/03/2022 18:09

I appreciated Jenny much more watching it recently. I didn’t understand about child abuse, attachment disorders and mental health issues in the 90s, and just saw her as a pain who was mean to Forrest.

HairyFeline · 26/03/2022 18:12

It’s a great movie. Simple, beautiful. The book is well worth a read too, as is the explanation to Graham Norton by Tom Hanks of how he went with ‘that’ accent.

aibutohavethisusername · 26/03/2022 18:18

Loved it.

AeroMocha · 26/03/2022 18:20

hated it too. Twee and patronising and just seemed really artificial.

But I know it was really popular, so I'm glad to find I wasn't the only one who didn't like it!

RandomDent · 26/03/2022 18:23

It looks beautiful too. There will be a technical term for it all, but the landscapes when he is running, the memory of the stars coming out in Vietnam, it’s all so beautiful to look at.

VoodooBadger · 26/03/2022 18:23

Well there's no accounting for taste!

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 26/03/2022 18:26

Overblown, twee shite. Hated it (and I like Hanks generally). Only saw it a couple of years ago.

HemanOrSheRa · 26/03/2022 18:28

Oh it's a lovely film. You'll be bawling like a baby by the end though.

Enb76 · 26/03/2022 18:32

I think it's a great film - yes it can be a bit corny and twee in parts but it's beautifully shot, the acting is superb and has a fab soundtrack. Definitely part of my catalog of films people should watch.

Justanotherobserver · 26/03/2022 18:45

Yes, it can be corny, but there's a place for that and it was done well here.

Waawo · 26/03/2022 18:47

Almost twenty years late? It was released in 1994 lol

AllotmentTime · 26/03/2022 19:16

Lieutenant Dan!!

EarringsandLipstick · 26/03/2022 19:42

I hate it. Hate Tom Hanks in it. And I love Tom Hanks in basically everything he ever acted in.

I also think it's a really stupid storyline.

EarringsandLipstick · 26/03/2022 19:43

Ok, yes, I give you the soundtrack. That I like!

geojellyfish · 26/03/2022 19:49

I think you've undercounted your decades!
