Energy company expecting me to call them and increase my direct debit?

They aren't doing it automatically? Why not? It's not as it we have a bloody choice about the new amount?

I'm with Shell.

Next bill due 5th April so I'm letting that direct debit remain at current rate. Then I guess I'll have to call them.

I'm with them too but I'm going to negotiate the new dd as the suggested one was too high. If we use too much I'll pay them off later like in the old days

I give monthly readings so mine in pretty accurate. I'm kind of resigned to it now to be honest but can't be arsed with the faff of calling them to sort it out Shock

Have you downloaded the Shell Energy app? I use it to report meter readings and vary my monthly payments if necessary.

I am with Shell on the variable rate price cap - I am able to pay my monthly bill by direct debit when I get the bill. It's an option that I was just able to select when I set up my DD.

It doesn't cost me anymore on the tariff.

I changed ours on the website - very easy.

I'm with them too. I'm currently ignoring it as the existing increase is new. I'll see how my balance goes and will increase it later if I have to.

But I agree with others, log on and do it from there.
