Approaching Dr about Lipedema.

Regular Mumsnetter changed name for this.

So, I am as certain as I can be that I have Lipedema and I really want to get an "official" diagnosis as it were so I can deal with the things in the future but, I am unsure how to begin the conversation with my GP. I trust this particular Dr, He is very understanding and listens well but I'm still nervous. In the past I saw another Dr as was basically railroaded and told in no uncertain terms that I eat to much, although that particular Dr didn't even ask me about what I do and don't eat so I'm confused with that.

So, how do I start off the conversation? I'm taking my husband with me for support as I really need it but I'm just not sure how to actually begin the appointment. Any help would be appreciated.

Only just found this as I was searching Lipedema. Was wondering how you got on?
I'm putting off going to the doctor because I'm scared of getting a "No love, you're just fat" response.
