What a catalogue of errors.

Dh and I due to have weekend away without kids for a work thing, first weekend away alone for over 5 years. Black tie, bought lovely dress etc. Sister can't house sit as going abroad, so kids going to parents. All very excited.

Then my dad starts feeling rough, ends up with pneumonia and is in hospital. Always a worry at 75 with covid around.

So I stay home to look after kids, missing 5* loveliness and unbroken sleep. On top of worrying about my dad and looking after my mum.

Then my sister has an ear problem so can't fly, which is good in a way for her as she can claim in insurance and be here too.

Then eldest child starts sniffing and tests positive for Covid, again, so now have the added worry of her having passed it to my mum, who visits my dad. 🤦🤦 Will obviously avoid her from now.

What a pile of poop.

Oh no, hope everyone is well soon.

That sucks big time. I hope everyone recovers very quickly.

That timing can get to fuck. Not as if you can reschedule, but I do hope you will be able to make up for it in some way once everyone's well again (which I hope they all will be very soon!).

That’s rubbish.

In a similar vein, was supposed to go out for our first dinner in forever without kids tomorrow night. Parents are visiting to look after them. DH just tests positive for covid, and feels really poorly. So now I have to look after everyone by myself and not go out. Also DH was away last weekend so I already felt broken. I’m fed up.

Argh, I'm sorry your weekend has sucked too. I've been trying to make the best of it, mum and sister came for nice takeaway last night which was fun. Of course 2 hrs later daughter tested positive so now am worried we may have passed it to my mum. Which is a worry in itself as she is nigh on 70, but also because of my dad. 🤦

Gah shit timing OP!

It always feels these things happen when you really need a break. I hope your dad recovers well (and DD doesn't get too poorly) and you manage to plan something equally as nice once everyone is better.

Harridan1981 · 26/03/2022 06:47

Thank you.

In another way it is good I didn't get away, then my parents would be sharing a house with a cv19 positive child 🤦

Oh bless you. I hope your Dad and your DD feel better soon.

I'm supposed to be in the Lake District with dh and dd. We were going away in Feb but cancelled as dd caught covid. Dh tested positive Wed. Every single time we book something!

Hope they both recover quickly.

Sorry your weekend has been blown out as well!
