Do you chuck clothes on a chair in the corner of your bedroom?

Random silly first world question but here goes...Does anyone here not have a chair in their bedroom they chuck clothes on before bed?

Am moving to a smaller bedroom with limited space and may not have space for a chair in the new room. I had a rational thought that it won't matter, because when I get undressed at night, my clothes will be either dirty (in which case they go in the laundry basket) or ok to be worn again (in which case they should go back in the wardrobe). The reality is I can't imagine doing this. I'm ok chucking stuff in the laundry but anything that's not yet dirty I always end up chucking over the chair until there's a massive pile.

Is anyone else like this or is my slovenliness beyond the pale?

Mine’s a stool but hopefully I can upgrade to a chair soon Smile

I don’t want to put worn-once jumpers away because I vaguely think this will lead to moths?

LoganberryJam · 24/03/2022 20:01

I don't have a chair in my bedroom but I chuck it on top of the chest of drawers.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 24/03/2022 20:01

That's why the dear Lord gave us the chair in the bedroom corner.

Winterfellismyhome · 24/03/2022 20:02

I dont have a chair but the occasional floordrobe Wink

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 24/03/2022 20:02

Chairdrobe/floordrobe/blahdrobe is a widely known phenomenon OP. You aren’t alone. I use a free standing rail/rack from Jim Lawrence.
It’s supposed to be for towels but works perfectly for clothes as can either chuck stuff over it or use hangers, or a combo of the two.

I don't have a chair. If it's dirty, wash basket. If it's clean and to be worn again next day, hooks on back of door. If it's clean but I won't be wearing it soon, back in wardrobe

greenlynx · 24/03/2022 20:05

I’m looking at the chair now : 3 cardigans, 2 jumpers, 2 tops and one pair of jeans. In fairness some of them are DH’s. They all are things which were worn once and could be worn again. I don’t want to wash them yet for environmental reasons but I don’t want to put them back into a wardrobe.

Ohyesiam · 24/03/2022 20:07

Mine is a towel rail, I can fit LOADS on.

saraclara · 24/03/2022 20:07

I have a laundry 'basket' (kind of latticed wood, so pretty solid) that has a flat top hinged lid. So everything that doesn't go in it, is thrown on it.

I have the Chairdrobe, but am much tidier when away in the campervan, it can be done!

SoManyTshirts · 24/03/2022 20:08

If you put worn clothes in the wardrobe they will generate that distinctive ‘charity shop’ smell.

I know, I’ve recently had to wash a whole drawerful of scarves and shawls.

MarianosOnHisWay · 24/03/2022 20:09

Totally embarrassed to admit this but… mine is the sidecar snuzpod crib that is still attached to the side of my bed… DD is 13 months and sleeps in cot in her own room. I use the snuzpod to store clothes Blush

Since I've moved to a house with a smaller bedroom, I've really honed my radiator jenga skills.

SirenSays · 24/03/2022 20:10

I dont have the chair but I do have a four poster bed. In my dreams its got lovely floaty curtains. In reality it's just clothes hanging over it.

ToManderleyAgain · 24/03/2022 20:10

I tend to hang up the clothes that I want to rewear, by hanging them on the outside of the wardrobe. Then they get a chance to air before I put them away again.

echt · 24/03/2022 20:14

Stuff for washing goes in the laundry basket, clothes that can be recycled (wool usually) hung up in the wardrobe, but not with the rest of the clothes. I'm fortunate in that I have a walk-in wardrobe.

isthismylifenow · 24/03/2022 20:17

I don't have a chair. So it all goes onto the other side of the bed. Benefit of being single.

Dirty stuff into the basket. Not dirty on the bed to 'air' until I get around to putting them away. Or wearing them again.

LouisaLovesMice · 24/03/2022 20:17

I have a rattan chair. The pile of clothes sometimes reaches epic proportions. I give in and sort through it when it totters and falls off the chair Grin

Hummingbirdcake · 24/03/2022 20:19

Chair. Currently two pairs of jeans and a hoodie.

longwayoff · 24/03/2022 20:20

Chair, if I'm going to wear the following day. I would never put something I've worn into her wardrobe though. Never considered this before. Clean enough to wear again but not clean enough to put away? Something wrong there, I'd better revise my slovenly habits.

Notwithittoday · 24/03/2022 20:21

Used to be the chair until we got rid of the chair, now it’s the landing handrail. My husband has the floordrobe

Craftycorvid · 24/03/2022 20:21

Yes, several chairs, in fact. Used for random bits of clothing that get popped on if it gets a bit cool or for knocking about the house. We over-wash clothing as a rule. Wool and natural fibres just needs airing between wears (I put my jumpers on the radiator before putting them away).

JayAlfredPrufrock · 24/03/2022 20:21

Chaise Longue here.

Lighthouseblue · 24/03/2022 20:23

Huge bed and only me (and the cat!) in it so we're on one side and a big 'mountain' of clothes on the other side! Some are clean and some are 'worn but still clean' either way they get 'the sniff test' before I put them on 😁

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 24/03/2022 20:23

A rocking horse (it's a big one).
