Do you chuck clothes on a chair in the corner of your bedroom?

Random silly first world question but here goes...Does anyone here not have a chair in their bedroom they chuck clothes on before bed?

Am moving to a smaller bedroom with limited space and may not have space for a chair in the new room. I had a rational thought that it won't matter, because when I get undressed at night, my clothes will be either dirty (in which case they go in the laundry basket) or ok to be worn again (in which case they should go back in the wardrobe). The reality is I can't imagine doing this. I'm ok chucking stuff in the laundry but anything that's not yet dirty I always end up chucking over the chair until there's a massive pile.

Is anyone else like this or is my slovenliness beyond the pale?

I got rid of the chair coz it was solely used as a chairdrobe.

No chair but I do use the floor! Grin

I have a beautiful vintage chair in my bedroom but clothes still end up on the floor

Twiglets1 · 24/03/2022 20:25

My husband chucks his clothes on a chair in the bedroom. I chuck mine on top of the laundry basket so it’s nice we both have a special place.

Over door hooks on the outside of my wardrobe door.

DH has a chairdrobe, and there's only really room for one chair.

HandlebarLadyTash · 24/03/2022 20:27

I have some hooks on the wall behind the door, did the same in the kids rooms.

Fair play. You win.

I have a couple of coat hooks I use for stuff to be re-worn. I have too many clothes, I've gotta have a purge someday.

I bought an old fashioned wooden clothes airer, it's slim and fits alongside the bed. Ideal for putting out your next day's outfit or your old one.

Totally embarrassed to admit this but… mine is the sidecar snuzpod crib that is still attached to the side of my bed… DD is 13 months and sleeps in cot in her own room. I use the snuzpod to store clothes Blush

Floor here. In the morning I make the bed and the pile goes on to the bed if not worn. Eventually I get sick of bed / floor / bed routine and wear or wash.

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 24/03/2022 20:33

I use this

I have a sofa but we don’t hang our clothes on it. I’m a bit of a neat freak and like everything put away.

winterchills · 24/03/2022 20:39

Mine goes over the bannister. Every time I look at it I get annoyed as it's messy but no where else to put it all. I'm going to invest in a chair now!

2catsandhappy · 24/03/2022 20:39

Chairdrobe. A lovely antique one. Over door hooks for long or bulky clothes. Having spare hangers is helpful.

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 24/03/2022 20:41

Love this thread 😂

I do have a chair but I can’t use it as a chairdrobe because it belongs to the cat. I have a distributed system: hoodies on the hooks on the back of the bedroom door, bras on the door handle. T-shirts and long sleeve tops on the wardrobe doors. Trousers over the top of one of the wardrobe doors. Socks and cardigans under the duvet on the far side of the bed (because moths).

It makes sense to me, anyway.

inheritancetrack · 24/03/2022 20:42

chair here too

Thewindwhispers · 24/03/2022 20:42

I used to! But my current house doesn’t have a chair there.

So now there’s always a pile on the floor 👀

Davros · 24/03/2022 20:45

@rolypolydoly

I don't have a chair. If it's dirty, wash basket. If it's clean and to be worn again next day, hooks on back of door. If it's clean but I won't be wearing it soon, back in wardrobe

Floor. But it's shit because all the hair and dust and crumbs (??? Where do they even come from?) Get all over them so I end up putting them in the wash anyway.

You can't put them back in the wardrobe as they will have skin cells/oils on them which is very attractive to insects that like to eat that kind of thing, which are the same type that tends to eat natural animal fibres because of the animal fats (lanolin etc) present in them.

Also yes charity shop smell. Which is a bit grim since it means stuff that's sold in charity shops is potentially unwashed although you may know that already.

Strawberry0909 · 24/03/2022 20:57

No chair but The next2me crib 😀 otherwise would be the floor

DFOD · 24/03/2022 20:59

Over the years it’s been an expensive impulse buy piece of exercise equipment that is never used - started with a Nordic Track, then a treadmill, then a Pilates reformer…..lots of surface area and hanging spots.

whoruntheworldgirls · 24/03/2022 21:01

Whatever I've worn that day goes in the wash apart from the cardigan, that gets hung on the back of the door.

JustALittleHelpPlease · 24/03/2022 21:04

Cleanish but can be worn again is a different pile to clean or dirty. It can't go in the wardrobe or the washing basket. However hooks, end of the bed, stool, top of the drawers... all work
