Second pro lapse repair - experiences?

I had a repair 18 months ago
It was a partial fail (or success depending on how you view things!)
Overall my quality of life has genuinely improved. I can go for lovely long walks with my children and not have to stop 3x to squat down behind a tree to go to the loo and I don’t end the day with a huge “lump”.
It’s really helped
But
Recently I have noticed my symptoms ramping up again. Not anywhere near extent as to before

My surgeon (who I think the world of) said that the ball is very much in my court. He’s explained risks that second OPs come with more risks than the first of failure BUT the op will only need to be a “lite” version of the first. He said he is happy to do it as he knows there would likely be an improvement but he said I need to weigh up improvement with the impact of recovery on my life and whether the fact I’m in a better place than before… is sufficient. He said I need to be realistic that getting back to running etc is unlikely but tbh - it’s more about not having the lump and needing the loo every 20 mins!
I’m really stuck!

What made you go for a second repair? And were you happy with results and how did recovery differ?

I may not be able to return to mumsnet until the end of the day… but I will definitely check in then and would be very grateful for any responses

Thanks

I'm in a similar boat. Ive decided against a repair until I near menopause if I can wait that long. The hormonal changes can bring about a worsening in prolapse (as I remember) and there are only so many surgeries you can do.

Ultimately it depends on how bad your symptoms are really. I'm still continent and back pain is ok etc.

Have you tried hypopressive exercises? Also recommend reading the work of Anna Crowle.

Thanks so much
I was diagnosed 9 years ago… there’s not an exercise or therapy I haven’t tried
Still in two minds about the op
