Passport and driving licence both need renewing

I'm probably missing something but I'm going to blame the fact that I'm feeling unwell and waiting for PCR results.

Keep meaning to renew my passport, it's expired and we are going on holiday this summer.

However just got a letter from DVLA and my driving licence is expiring as need a new photo which they want to take from my passport. I don't seem to be able to find another way of doing it, however just did a chat service with DVLA and they are sending me a D1 form. Can anyone reassure me that this is the correct form please?

My DP had to do this as his passport had expired and so couldn't complete online.

It took months for his new driving licence to come through, but he got it eventually! Alternative is renewing your passport first and hoping it comes through before your DL expires, then doing it online

Do the passport first and then renew the driving licence online using the new passport photo

I renewed my DL at a main post office, they did the photo

The passport office reckon I won't get it back before the driving licence expires.

You might as well push ahead with a passport renewal as you have two reasons for needing the passport and solving that will also solve the driving licence thing. Maybe apply fast track?

Its the photo that expires rather than the licence itself. Paper applications take much longer than online

Online passport renewal is easy, do it today because it's taking a fair amount of time, meanwhile you can do the driving licence a different way but might take 3 months +

The D1 form is the correct form.
Driving licence renewals are taking 6-10 weeks at the moment.
My passport took 15 days to renew, from the date I sent the application online to the date I got the new one in the post (yesterday.)

D1 is for postal applications. I think you can do a renewal at some post offices and you can use the link I provided to search for one that does them

Could you do a fast track passport renewal it's more expensive and you have to go to a passport office but would get that out the way.

Passport 1 day renewal is 177 but it’s quick and easy to do
I did mine in Feb
