Big Companies that are fined

When a big company is fined, where does the money go? For example, Camelot who do the National Lottery have been fined for technical issues on their app. They’ve been fined £3.5 million. Who benefits from this money. Where does it go?

Some to finance the costs of the regulator, possibly some to compensate victims or otherwise a donation to good causes related to the offence and some to the taxpayer, in a lot of cases, eg Health and Safety offences.

Googling brings up the statement from the regulator:

In this case, all the money is going to good causes, presumably the ones that the lottery supports anyway.

Yes in this case the money is going to good causes.

When the ICO fines companies for data protection breaches, it goes to the Treasury.
