What did you never expect to happen but it did?

I hope this can be just positive or funny stories, I know there are lots of bad things that happen to people but there is so much bad news about I was thinking about things I've done.

So mine

I never thought I would be headbutted by a reindeer.
I never thought I would be able to stroke a wild bandicoot in a restaurant.
I never thought I'd go to uni.

One of my friends, who is black (this is relevant) never expected to have a white child and white grand children

I had never been to Wales. Then came for a look around for a week, loved it so much, found a house on the market up for sale whilst I was there, went to view it, now living in Wales.

I never expected to have a boyfriend, I thought I'd be single forever. Met someone in my early 40s, 5 years later we're happily living apart together.

I never expected I’d be given bitchy side eye by a tarantula (even the keeper said that’s what she was doing!)

I never expected I’d have the career I do (I didn’t even know it existed at 18)

I never expected I’d become a really quite good ultramarathon runner.

I never thought I'd enjoy running - I took it up in my 50s in the first lockdown. I don't go especially far or fast, but I am constantly amazed how much I enjoy it and miss it when I can't get out.

I never thought I'd be able to buy myself a 2 year old Arab horse to bring on as my riding horse. But I have! If child me could look into the future at adult me, they would consider that the ultimate in winning at life Smile

Dog sat for a dog i didn't like (owner was desperate) and ended up loving the hound! i was crying as i walked away after handing her back!

DH, me and Dc1 and 2 are all dark haired. I never expected to have a white-blonde youngest child that sticks out in photos like a sore thumb and literally looks like we stole him from somewhere.

I never expected to have children. Was told I wasn't ovulating so couldn't have them.

I have 2 and have been pregnant 4 times.

I never expected to be a football coach. I've never played a game of football in my life, I couldn't now because of my health issues, and I don't follow the sport. Yet here I am, trained and building a team and we're actually doing well.

I grew to accept I wouldn't be a Mum especially not naturally, I am 24 weeks pregnant with that natural pregnancy and doesn't feel like it's real

I never thought I'd get married. Never particularly wanted it or saw it in my future and was happy to be a single mum forever as long as I was having sex. Then I met someone who changed my mind and made me realise I did want that really.

I never thought I'd get my dream job 8 weeks ago, but I did! I'm a nursery TA, in the school where I already worked as a lunchtime supervisor, & I love my job ☺️

I never expected to earn as much as I do - had many years struggling financially as a single parent and am
now very comfortable. (I do count my blessings everyday and give lots to charity.)

An inheritance for my DM when I was 9 (which was significant and included DB). It was very unexpected and pissed off a couple of family members including grandad (it was his DB who died and he expected a lot of all including a nice seaside holiday cottage) but no one could say anything. Included family antiques.
