Our hall is so narrow, a normal shoe rack just eats into space, also no one bloody uses it so there's shoes everywhere anyway, has anyone got those ikea trones shoe cabinets? Are they flimsy or okay?

We’ve got this from ikea in our narrow hall. Works well for shoes, coats and the DC’s school bags go on the bench.

Our solution is to scatter shoes all over the floor. This way none of the carpet feels left out. We have a shoe storage box but that's really used for storing muddy plastic bags.

We all leave the house and get our shoes on at the same time, just to make sure its really stressful and annoying for each other too.

We have those OP - they look a bit flimsy but have lasted (and are largely hidden under coats so fairly discreet). You can only fit about 3 pairs of shoes max though!

We can't fit anything else in as need to also squeeze a buggy in and out.

Also just throw our shoes around a bit like the pp!

Yes we’ve got the plastic shoe cabinets, not as flimsy as they look, honest!

Great for kids shoes in particular. Adult shoes we can get four pairs in if we squish them a little

LOL 😆 🤣

We've just moved to a house with a fairly large hallway - but still same problem. I swear the males of the family just love a good random scatter....

Trones is good, you can also get similar from other shops (like Dunelm) if you’d like a slightly different look

Can you post a photo of your hall for suggestions?

Hooks (including those which fold up so they don’t take your eye out - like the umbra one pictured might be an idea

Or a skinny coat tree

I like to put slippers on the stairs along one side (carpeted stairs, slippers unlike outdoor shoes are not dirty)

Skinny shelves are good for sun glasses etc (picture shelves are ideal here too) - basically use your walls to the max

This website is really helpful and has a section for hallways
