Anyone had a weird experience they can't explain?

This afternoon I went into my bedroom and heard a noise in the ensuite. When I went in I could see the window cleaner was cleaning the window with the pole/brush/water system he uses. I looked out of the bedroom window and thought it was odd that I couldn't see his van or his hose on the drive.

I went downstairs 5 minutes later and there was no sign of him (in the garden or street), no other windows cleaned and DH said he hadn't seen him. We're having work done on the house so the windows are filthy and the house is encased in scaffolding so it wouldn't be very easy to reach one small upstairs window unless you were on the drive standing directly underneath the window.

If I hadn't sent DH upstairs to check, I'd think I was going mad but he confirmed that the window was wet and clean. There's no way anyone could have accessed the side of the house other than from the drive but there was no one there so what the hell happened? If I have a phantom window cleaner I really wish he'd cleaned the lounge window as it's covered in seagull crap!

I meant to add, has anyone else had a strange experience that they couldn't explain?

That's very strange!

I did, a few years ago. I was on holiday with my parents. We'd had a day at the beach and had parked the car in a car park at the bottom of a hill. When I fastened my seat belt just before setting off, I suddenly became obsessed with it - making sure it was properly secure and that my parents' seat belts were secure also. It's not something I'd ever given a second thought about until this point and definitely had never been obsessive about that or anything else.

A minute later, we drove up the hill to a junction at the top. As we stopped, a car slammed into the back of us.

I have never been able to explain that.

Moodycow78 · 22/03/2022 18:54

Is there a neighbours garden that overlooks that window who gave it a quick clean? 🤷

TattiePants · 22/03/2022 19:01

@Squiff70 I'm not in the least bit woo but that's freaky. Thank goodness you did have your seatbelts on!

@Moodycow78 the neighbour on that side is on holiday but they would have had to get a pole/hose over their bushes and our detached garage then negotiate the scaffolding to reach a small first floor window.

Weird experience this afternoon. Was at my house which had an open day yesterday and there was a big dusty boot print right at the top of the duvet on the double bed. Who goes to view a house and stands on the bed? Where was the agent while this was happening? Creepy AF.

UsernameNotAvailableHmm · 22/03/2022 19:15

@TattiePants

You say you're having work done on the house, so could it be that one of the workmen cleaned your window? Maybe something got flicked or spilt on the window and it was best to clean it off straightaway.

TattiePants · 22/03/2022 19:22

@UsernameNotAvailableHmm the workmen have temporarily stopped until the scaffolding gets taken down and there's no way to access the scaffolding as they've removed the ladders. I also definitely heard the water spray on the window and could see the brush through the glass so it was a proper window cleaning system. I just can't explain it.

@PerseverancePays why on earth would someone do that!!

A bit like @Squiff70 a friend gave me a lift to Evensong and was going to park on the drive as usual. I remarked that it wasn't sensible as it would stop am ambulance reaching the building. In the 20 years I'd been going there I'd never known an ambulance to be needed. Friend parked on the road.

Five minutes after the start of the service a stranger (to everyone present) walked in and sat right next to my mum (dedpite the church being 95% empty). I took one look at him from the choir stalls and thought he was about to die, then dismissed the thought. 20 minutes later he slumped onto my mum, dead.

Not only did I predict his end it was, of course, the one time an ambulance was needed, and due to other cars in the drive it couldn't get near. Very strange.

Not particularly woo but I’ve always wondered what mine was. A few years ago I’d gone out for lunch with colleagues and we were leaving the restaurant to go back to work. I was walking in between the booths where people were sitting and my leg brushed past someone’s stuff (there were 2 people sitting in the boot but the rest of it was crammed with shopping bags so sticking out). I only brushed past very lightly but felt a sharp sting under my right knee. I looked down but didn’t see anything and thought nothing more of it.

Got back to work and my knee was quite sore so I had a proper look and there were 2 deep pierce marks on my leg about half an inch apart that were bleeding.

Whatever I’d brushed past had gone right in but my tights hadn’t ripped so I really couldn’t think what it could have been. Randomly I was thinking a snake or something but I doubt those women has a snake in their bag!

I always wish I’d stopped at their table and asked what it was. Took a while to heal as well!

I have had an unexplainable thing happen before but it would be far too outing and i've told too many people about it 🤣
Also i'm just writing this to placemark so i can read everyone else's because i love these threads!

Kipsa · 22/03/2022 20:11

Must've had something...Will have a think

AllTheWeetabix · 22/03/2022 20:32

Shamelessly place-marking

Iampicklerick · 22/03/2022 20:36

Well…. Yes I have had a few of unexplained situations and sadly they all turned out to be temporal lobe epilepsy. No suggestion you have that of course OP, but usually whenever someone says “I swear I saw a ghost” or had a religious experience I always think hmm that’s what I used to think too. I don’t lose consciousness and they feel quite nice tbh.

TattiePants · 22/03/2022 20:50

I'm sorry to hear that @Iampicklerick. I really did begin to doubt myself and think I'd imagined it but at least DH could confirm the window was wet and clean.

A couple of years ago, I drove along a road. I’ve regularly driven along, in a Wooded area, and felt really scared. I felt like something was being really oppressive. It really spooked me. I’ve driven the same stretch of road several times since and never had the same feeling, but sometimes find myself a little more wary at that point, especially if I remember the previous feeling.

As a young man my dad was in a car with a group of friends legging it back to watch the 1966 final after a short break away in the Norfolk broads.

None of them had been before, they didn't know the area and way back when before all the precautions and restrictions now they were going fast so as not to miss the match.

My dad suddenly start warning the driver to slow down because there was another road at the bottom of the road they were heading down. No idea why, no knowledge of the area, just knew he had to get them to slow down.

None of them could see it as they were a while back and there was a turn to navigate before they could see it and by then it would have been too close to stop properly.

When they did get to the relevant bit there were huge lorries thundering along it and it appeared if they'd been just a few seconds earlier (which they would of the driver hadn't slowed) they'd have been taken out by one.

I was 5 and on a day trip with parents and baby brother. We stopped en-route at a play area and cut my elbow. There was a pharmacy across the road. I'd normally have just walked there with mum, but she was very insistent I stayed in the car with my dad.

I recall seeing her step onto the zebra crossing, I then looked in the opposite direction and saw the base of a huge tree which had been felled. I vividly remember thinking at the time 'I'm going to remember what this tree looks like forever'. When I turned back- my mum was on the road- having been hit by a car at 50miles/hr and apparently flew over the windscreen, over the car and landing on road behind. Can't say it was woo, but thankfully, I didn't go on the crossing with her- nor see it happen.

My father died when we were all away on holidays. When we returned home- our kitchen clock had stopped at exactly the same time he died!

Clicked too soon!
Every week or so I have a bit of a 'woo' thing happen. I might, randomly think of an old film, TV show, friend- then that week, that day or the next- that friend will call, the TV show will be on or I'll see an advertisement or something linked to the show I randomly thought about. I quite often call friends at the exact time they are calling me!

I guess like a premonition, but its not like I've see the TV show advertisement anywhere. Other examples are that I'll recall a meal or dessert that an elderly aunt made 40yrs ago- then that exact dessert will be on saturday kitchen this week!

Age 13/14, I was dropped off at my grandad's flat before school. Did this every day. Would have a cup of tea with him then go into the school which was a short walk away. One particular morning, I noticed his curtains were closed (I could see his flat window from the entrance to the block). Rang his flat number but no answer. Used emergency code to let myself in. Was feeling concerned, but when I got to the top of the stairs at the entrance where I had to walk along 2 long corridors to get to the flat, I received what I can only describe as a massive punch to the abdomen which completely winded me. I was bent double and burst immediately into floods of tears. I knew he was dead. I sobbed and made my way to his flat just knowing this fact. Obviously there were clues, but I cannot explain the feeling of being punched. Before I got to his flat, a careworker intercepted me. They didn't tell me (in fact, I went off to school with the awful knowledge, but unconfirmed) but just ushered me away. Not long after, I was collected by my mum. I often wonder if my grandad hadn't wanted me to discover his body.
