Toxic office survival tips

Call for collective wisdom, please.

I am working in a really undermining office at the moment.

Line manager is ok but very friendly with someone else senior who is very cut throat in her communication and is a bit of an empire builder in my work place. Another colleagues loves to boss everyone around in a hectoring tone. My confidence is already knocked by all this. Imagine a local council with micro managing busybodies!

I need to hang in there for a few more months but am doing a job that I am not all that experienced in so in a slightly vulnerable position already.

Hit me with your toxic office survival tips! I will move on soonish but have to hang in there for just a bit longer.

They all slag each other off and gossip putting down colleagues is rife. If you tell a manager you have an issue with something everyone will know and it will be used against you sooner or later.

It's a keep your head down and don't react to the bullshit situation, I hope I won't lose the plot or my cool, they are getting on my nerves and I feel ever so stressed. Confused

From my experience & observation with micro managers and empire builders, if you want to survive and just get through the next few months smile and wave. Become a 'yes' person to whatever management/senior people and just say what they want to hear. I have seen colleagues who have absolutely no clue get quite far one just by doing this. As long as you pose no threat or challenge to these people you will get through the next few months.

Stop being present when those conversations happen. Stop mutual tea breaks abs nights out etc. Stop socialising. Worked for me in the past x
